Absolutely agree! this was a great insight! it's an extra ~.125v over what most pople are comfortable with on this node. also i see a lot of people running hotter than 80c and unstable...so new targets for me.

So, apparently Tom's has absolutely no idea that they themselves, along with everyone else, are breathing lots of "LN2 smoke" all day, every day.

It's just water vapor condensed by the cold. No, you don't need a respirator for nitrogen, as it's 79% of the air.

Sigh.

"LN2 smoke" might be fine, but watch out for that dihydrogen monoxide.

Don't misread this for - "reeeee woman can't OC! sammich n beer while i watch fishing!"

read it for "Intel appears to be playing a card"
Not to white knight or anything, but can we just take them at their word here? No reason to bring this up at all.

I'm torn after reading that, haha. I regularly push >90C on my system when doing rendering and full load tasks but I have the voltage far below those recommendations. So I'm killing it early with high load state yet not because I'm not really borderline overvolting. Hmm *thinks*. Stuff's worked fine thus far. If I can get a few years out of a chip it's good enough.

i look forward to Intel funding a trip to HWBot world champs.

"colder chips run faster at lower voltages, so dropping the temperature significantly by using a beefier cooling solution also allows you to drop the voltage further, which then helps control the voltage axis."
If I am not getting it wrong; are they saying that for a given stable OC speed say 5.0 GHz at x.x volts there will still be room to reduce voltage if we could further lower the temp ? This is interesting.

It just works

How did you figure they were getting such high overclocks with LN2?
