I'm with them on this. If you have charts that show 2x performance uplift between every processor gen from either of the manufacturers, you mught have a point.

Now before you go off with guns blazing:

1. Performance doesn't scale linearly with transistor count
2. Moors law isn't a provable scientific law. It was an observation.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

Right, it was just a general idea about how computer processing power was expected to roughly double ever 18 months because of transistors getting smaller.

Processing power never doubled every 18 months. Transistors doubled.

Says the guy who spent pages upon pages being wrong about scaling and half-assed an acknowledgement when he got cornered.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law
Quote:
Moore's law is the observation that the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles about every two years. The observation is named after Gordon Moore, the co-founder of Fairchild Semiconductor and CEO of Intel, whose 1965 paper described a doubling every year in the number of components per integrated circuit,[2] and projected this rate of growth would continue for at least another decade.[3] In 1975,[4] looking forward to the next decade,[5] he revised the forecast to doubling every two years, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 40%.[6][7][8]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moore%27s_law
Quote:
The doubling period is often misquoted as 18 months because of a prediction by Moore's colleague, Intel executive David House. In 1975, House noted that Moore's revised law of doubling transistor count every 2 years in turn implied that computer chip performance would roughly double every 18 months (with no increase in power consumption).
Lol.

You literally got hard countered by one Wiki search that specifically says you are wrong and why. In the second paragraph. With references.

What are you talking about?

This website is full of aspurgers people, literally turning this into pages about the exact meaning of mores law.

New flash people, more transistors make CPUs faster. They are related.
