So apart from being 48" what is new with these panels? VRR and HDMI 2.1 were all 2019 features. The panel itself has not been improved since 2017. The only change is the SOC? I might still skip this year too because getting 4K60 is already hard enough.

Wish they could get that down to 40", 32" ideally.

But with new HDR monitors costing $3600 US, maybe I'll just deal with a screen that's way to big for my viewing distance, every gaming monitor $1200 or less has at best 6/10 picture quality.

TBH a 40" Monitor mounted on a wall that is thin and flush is pretty amazing, even for a desktop, just place your table to your liking in front of it and play. Mounting on a wall means you have flexible viewing distance.

Beside a smaller panel size, what I really need is Display Port 2.0 and HDMI 2.1. Only with these 2, you can drive 4K120Hz with 10bpc HDR. Hopefully Ampere would have DP 2.0 ready as well.

Really like the 110 ppi on my 40" 4k IPS Samsung TV so I'm hoping for a 40" Oled release from LG someday. Although I guess some may argue that I won't notice any loss in IQ due to a lower ppi on a 55" or 48" TV in 4k. Edit - assuming I'm sitting at the proper distance from the screen and those things like that.

This is a step in the right direction however still too large.

Why can't we have a 32 - 38" Ultrawide oled?

idk why OLED hasn't swept the market yet. I really don't get it. Do they not realize they could clean the floor with an entire line of 4K OLED from ~30s+?

stop calling them TVs, or monitors. "The new LG OLED Panel Line" then sit back & count the money. I would prefer to have something I can sit ~3 feet from. Hopefully something else is announced before this comes to a store near me. Something about buying a TV via Ebay just irks me. I rather pay the tax to be able to drive it down the street for warranty swap.

100% agree with everything you just said

If they rebrand the monitor panel I doubt this would impact their tv sales at all.

Hell, if LG decided to release a 38" ultrawide oled I would still have a 55"+ oled tv in the same room.

These new monitors being displayed at CES 2020 are a joke. Mini-led? No thanks. Price - definitely not.

Makes my 38" lg's look like a bargain

- 48"
- 4K
- 120hz
- VRR
- HDR (700 nits)
- OLED (perfect blacks and picture quality)
- 0.5 ms response time

Is this the perfect 2020 monitor?
I would honestly prefer 43in or 39in, but smaller than 50in is definitely an option for people like me that hate multi-monitor(I also still buy physical bluray, so extra HDMI2.1 ports is awesome). This has literally all the features that I have been wanting for two years. It's an OLED, so it will still be vulnerable to burn-in, but when I switch to 4K this is definitely an option.

I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and I went ahead anyway.

If it's not coming out for the PC, it's dead to me.
