[TheVerge] LG’s 2020 OLED TV introduces 48-inch size

Quote:
For those not interested in LG’s luxury series, there are also excellent updates to the regular OLED lineup, and LG is introducing an entirely new size for 2020: a 48-inch 4K OLED TV. At that size, you’re getting pixel density “comparable to that of a 96-inch 8K TV,” the company says. Consumers are buying giant TVs in droves, but it’s nice to see LG recognizing that some people need something a bit smaller — and now they don’t have to miss out on OLED as a result. LG views the 48-incher as a perfect bridge between gaming monitor and living room TV, and it retains LG’s low input lag (around 13ms) and support for variable refresh rate via either Nvidia’s G-Sync or AMD’s FreeSync.

I am confident these panels are all 120hz aswell, this will make it a dream monitor, as it is perfect size. Hopefully it comes at a sub $1K price tag, as todays 55 inch are just that, which will make the new overpriced 55 OLED Gaming monitors DOA.

- 48"
- 4K
- 120hz
- VRR
- HDR (700 nits)
- OLED (perfect blacks and picture quality)
- 0.5 ms response time

Is this the perfect 2020 monitor?

Audio Setup: Asus Xonar D2X --- Sennheiser HD558 (no foam mod)

There's a 120% chance I am buying this on black friday. I currently use a 55" C6 as my monitor and while iti s amazing, I do wish the DPI was better, and it is only 60Hz.

I literally just ordered the 34" Alienware 120Hz G-Sync and I have until basically tomorrow to cancel it. Decisions, decisions...

For folks who thought 55" was too large, is this enough of a difference to make it appealing? I know a lot of folks want something around the 40" mark. I'm curious how much of a market there is at 48".

I'd still think some people will try to downplay the lg oled's just because its a oled no matter what the size because of the issue pertaining to burn in while I haven't had any issues from my oled's LG C6 LG C7 LG C9 it is by far the best image I have ever seen on any display and this is coming from tn ips va it didn't take much for me to get used to 65 from 55 but I think any larger as a pc display would be pushing it in my case.

hrmm.. 48"
i'm not sure it will fit at my desk. Right now i'm using the short lived dell OLED 30" monitor.

someone do some fast math height and length of a 48" screen? (i want to see if it fits my desk)

that said, for a desktop, 8k might have been nice But 4k with no scaling should work too.

*edit: 41"+ boo.. can't fit my desk area

One of my best purchases in 2019 was the LG OLED C9 during black friday. Great for gaming with the 2080TI and I found the updated support for airplay, chromecast really useful. Good decision of mine to sell my AW3418DW (turned out to be market price due to drop in price during black friday). I previously had an Samsung 2015 LED 4K TV with the release of there upgrade kits.

the c9 is amazing. upgrade my 77" c8 to the 77" c9 and it was totally with it. (fully calibrated too!)
With eARC working i don't have to get a new AVR either. Now if nvidia came out with hdmi 2.1 cards....
(even the gysnc at 4k60 is useful sometimes when the frames drop below 60... i'm looking at you Control!)

even if it doesn't fit well, i'm likely pickup one of these 48" for my desk. I have no fear of burn in. I had OLED TVs for 5 years now. zero problems with BI.

I manually toggle my screens whenever not using them, even when heading to the can. burn-in will be non-issue for me.
