no reason for cards that come with blocks to be double slot. They'd just need to use mini-DP instead of full size to keep the same I/O.

& right, AMD's 6570 wasn't considered high end in the slightest, which I believe was penultimate in the single slots that year? i'd have to google. #2 or #1.

The last single-slot card I am aware of was the Quadro P4000, which was basically a GTX1070. I believe a GPU manufacturer that mostly sells in Asia made a single slot 1070.

Late edit: actually, there is a Quadro RTX 4000 single slot GPU, but I am not aware of any consumer grade equivalent.

i'd assume there are weird OEM ones, but right. no consumer models really, aside form dinky little NV/AMD display extender tier units.
