[OC3D] ASUS brings its ROG Bezel-Free kit to market, promising a better multi-screen gaming experience

Source: https://www.overclock3d.net/news/gpu...g_experience/1

Quote:
ASUS' ROG Bezel-Free Gaming kit is designed to sit between compatible monitors, which are "under 27 inches with a four-sided frameless or slim-bezel design", and refract light using "optical micro-structures" to remove the visibility of bezels and create what looks like a single, continuous screen.

This kit is designed specifically for those who enjoy simulator games, shooters or other experiences that benefit from a multi-monitor setup. The only downsides of this solution are that users will need to align their monitors perfectly and that these refraction kits are not ideal for non-gaming purposes like office work or web browsing.

Neat. But this doesn't seem a whole lot different than de-bezeling your existing monitor.

Definitely, but I can see many users not wanting to do that. The price for this is insane, it should be between $35 -$50 https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Bezel-Fr...s%2C192&sr=8-1

only like 5+ years late to matter.

more effective. This helps mask your bezzel corrections, and makes it appear as if there's no line between screens.

who's even still running spanned/surround/eyefinity?

this would also give you guaranteed on-screen blind spots, unless it literally only covers the black space, but I believe from what I've seen ,that's not the case. So, you'd have two blurry strips instead of two black strips.

I think I'll stick to 4K & 3440x1440p. The days of Spanned are essentially dead, outside of simming.

Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.

Do they think this is an actual solution?

Sure, replace bezels with an image distorting rectangle...

I know a much better solution.

widescreen/4K in the middle, and portrait 22s on the side.

I get 3x identical screens, if you do lots of 2D otherwise, in a time after sli/xfire... blah. I rather run a laptop over a second dedicated screen these days. o.O!

we've already got double width screens (32:9 aspect ratio), that would be much better to fill in your main vision as the bezel would be on the outer peripheral vision.

trolling an adult is very dangerous, don't try it at home nor at work. you don't want to play tag with a rabid man.

I tried to get one of these kits when they came out a few years back, they were in short supply. Dont think i can justify the cost these days...
