Since Nvidia and AMD have released new 6GB cards I would say everyone that matters considers it a good idea.
yeah if you consider getting less vram to be fine because both brands are just competing in the same price segment (the big difference nvidia tries to reduce cost probably due to the bigger die) is fine for you , then ok. but for me looks like people what buying whatever AMD put on sale even without thinking the disadvantages this will carry are bit blinded by their brand loyalty, 290x were 4GB cards but they could have been 8gb from launch but 4GB did not age well, people who didnt buy the 290x 8gb probably like those who bought 4GB R9 Fury and RX 470/480 are struggling to play modern games at higher quality

When looking @ the 5600 Xt, U might want to consider that it's priced about the same as the GTX1660 and out performs that card. IMHO I believe amd released this as a competitor for THAT series, not the RTX series.

I bet it beats an RX 580.

Idk, Vega 56 looks like it's trading blows with the rtx 1660 sc, which is a $200 card.

Looks like 5700XT is right up there with Radeon VII for $200 less. Bang for buck right now I'd say is RTX 1660, then 5700, then 5700XT.

Then the ultimate 2080.
The GTX 1660 or RX 5600 XT won't be able to touch a RX Vega 56 when overclocked. I picked up a MSI RX Vega 56 for $250. Flashed the Vega 64 LC bios and I can run it at 1750/1050 with an undervolt of 1190mV. Crushes everything in its price range.

I didn't buy my Radeon VII for gaming and again the performance it offers for deep learning has no competition in its price range.

That would of been the case than EVGA released the RTX 2060 KO.

Isn't the 2060 competes with the 5700? It can be had for 330$ with a free game. The latter is a bit faster, tho.

Flash it with an XT bios and it will even compete with the 2070.

Uhm....found this:

https://www.evga.com/products/produc...06G-P4-2068-KR

The 2060 Ko is not only not available on EVGA's site, it's not $299 until a $20 rebate is considered.

Edit....just checked Newegg and the price is $319 there as well with $20 mir

https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-...82E16814487486

$319 @ Amazon with no mention or rebate

You're looking at the wrong the card.

Ahhh,I see Nvidia has released another card in answer to amd. This kinda thing is why I'm growing disenchanted with nvidia.I purchased my RTX 2070 4 months after release figuring that by then they'd be stable & any bugs would be known, then 5 months later like a new child, nvidia delivers a NEW series of "super"cards with better performance. At least they could have sent the previous generation buyers some hemorrhoid creme to soften the fact they were releasing a new series less than 1 year later with a lower price. It's not like EVERYONE can afford 500-700 dollar purchases everytime they release.(my last big card purchase had been my gtx 970 & that had the memory issue)Oh,yeah, they even added Sli back onto the "super" version of the 2070 but the regular that I purchased doesn't support SLi. So nice of them to support their customers. LOL Edit: Quote from digital trends "EVGA claims that the RTX 2060 KO edition will launch the week of January 13, and will be priced at $300. That puts it within $20 of the new RX 5600 XT, whilst offering support for ray tracing and deep learning supersampling."

lol, yep. Look at the 1060. Used to be better than the Rx570/580. Both the 570 & 580 improved significantly over time, whereas from nvidia we got 1650, 1650 super, 1660, 1660Ti, 1660 Super.

lol, like the 1060 wasn't enough to make people mad with 2 different gpu's in the card depending if you got the 1 with 3Gb ram or 6Gb ram!Less ram = a gpu with less cuda cores. I seriously think that unless nvidia turns the way it sees it's customer base around, this will be my last card from them.
