You do not want a 1080 Ti at this point. Turing is such a different architecture with better Async Compute, VRS, RTX, DLSS that age 1080 Ti a lot.

I'm noticing a pattern now with these 2020 drivers. When they are first installed (drivers only) everything is great and there are no problems. And I have noticed improvements with each new version too.

But after a few days the dreaded on-off black screen during bootup starts happening again and slowly gets worse and worse. After bootup it does go away tho. But then something installs itself. I get a notice of a new something and the next day the crashes in games starts. This has happened three times so far.

Luckily a new driver has been ready every time so it is more of a warning that it's time to update than anything else, but it is still worrying that something is trashing otherwise great drivers.

That has to be very frustrating.

On the 5700 XT, in open world games (AC Odyssey, Ghost Recon Wildlands, Red Dead Redemption 2), nothing but stutter as you travel through the vast open maps.

On the 2080 Super, same games, same settings, zero stutter. I can run from one end of the map to the other without even a frame drop, stutter, hitch or otherwise. Completely smooth, zero latency, zero stuttering. Assets load and render seamlessly. Same games, higher settings, again...., no stuttering. Not a single hitch at all!

this is nonsense

you should have bought a 2070, or a 2070s, same tier, to make a fair comparison

I think he's comparing the performance between the two brands based on driver or firmware level not so much on power or how fast they are. But you are right, i was able to get an XT and a 5700 for the price of a single RTX 2080 (Super) and fortunately have no issues with stutter in any of the games i'm playing.

If that is true, that one stutters a lot and the other not at all, don't you think it would show in 1% and 0.1% lows in reviews? I don't think there is a big difference. I play AC Odyssey, Wildlands, Witcher 3 on my 5700
XT, and while there are stutters here and there it's not bad at all. The only bad stuttering that I get is in Jedi: Fallen Order.

My 2080 Ti play better than my 5700 XT. AMD sucks.
