Nearly everybody uses the open source driver. It's really good, and not maintained by AMD.

For those who have issues- is your RAM in MB QVL list?

Vega 64 here. I've installed just the drivers and the full install and it is always the same. They start off great and over time slowly go bad until they start crashing. But it isn't consistent as they will go for hours with no problems and then start black screening and crashing constantly, even while just browsing sites like this one. Then they will be good again for hours or days.

Are the drivers unstable and going corrupt or are they being corrupted? Don't forget that since December their focus has been of closing security holes in their drivers.

Haven't had any issues since release preventing games from working with my Vega 56, 64 or Radeon VII on Windows.

Had plenty of issues with the HD 5000 series and R9 290x with elpida memory.

Had this 5700 XT for a 3-4 months now. Never had any issues I keep hearing about. Issues only happen when something is OCed and not enough voltage applied.

I don't like that with multi-monitors system VRAM won't downclock, but that's a hardware issue AMD had since GCN 1.0

I can understand the owners frustration. I have relegated my Radeon VII to my work computer simply so I wouldn't need to mess with the AMD software or update drivers. I feel the same way about all their software though, I hate the cpu software just as much as the gpu stuff. Luckily work machine doesn't need anything special, I just leave it all at the factory settings and roll along.

I tell people all the time. Get reference AMD GPU. Nvidia had similar problems at launch with Micron where the GPUs would die.
I bought a reference 5700XT to replace a 980 ti in my secondary system just a month ago, from Dell for $350. Ran DDU, installed the card and I must say, haven't had any issues at all.

Of course, I'm a sample size of one and I have no doubt there is something amiss; I just can't speak to it myself.

You are not 1 sample size. You got the right GPU. 5700 XT reference uses the superior Samsung G6.

sad really. Everyone tried so hard to pretend AMD driver issues were a thing of the past.

Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.
