[TT]AMDs new Korean RRA certification listing: Our new Big Navi tease?

Quote:
The Korean RRA has just listed a couple of AMD graphics cards for certification, which is perfect timing for AMD's upcoming Financial Analyst Day which takes place on March 5. AMD will be talking about its next-gen RDNA2 architecture at this event on March 5, where we're all hoping to hear about Big Navi.

I feel like I've read this before,

So, sorry if this was already discussed.

But, Announcement of new high end GPUs in March a possibility?

Haven't read the article, but title suffices
They're typically listed there a month prior to (paper) launching so i'd be surprised if an announcement is not made within said same time frame. Plus, we knew something was coming anyway, even L. Su said it, so the two combined.. yeap.

Am hoping that the 'big' one (7950XT?) will offer a RAM size similar to that of the RVII, as that remains for me the current 'flagship', power draw notwithstanding.

I'll leave the imminent "Nvidia this" "who cares" "bestest on the planet" comments to the usual juveniles that are sure to follow.

Pride, honour and purity.

If there were only 2 cards for certification, it sounds like Arcturus, the replacement for Vega, rather than big Navi. Both of which are set to be released soon.

Petty, I know, but I feel weird about upgrading a gpu to another when it has the same amount of vram.

I'm just hoping for more than oc'ed Radeon VII performance at 4k, same vram, and better thermals (also more stable drivers for navi, but we don't talk about that 'round these parts).

When, how much, how many and with what performance?

In case of AMD all of these are a lottery. It may as well be a good chip but in so low quantity that it's gonna be some obscure card for corporations or movie editing studios.

Big Navi this, big Navi that, believe it when I have it in my hands. And then what? Use it as a door stop? Who's gonna make the drivers for it, open source community for Linux only in the next 10 years of work in progress beta drivers?
Make the card, make proper stable and performant drivers that have all the card's features enabled, then send it to shops and reviewers/advertisers. Sadly the latest releases from AMD are far from perfect, features missing, drivers in a sorry state because they focus on pretty UI instead.

Till then, just for Aenra, the grass is greener elsewhere. Usually.
