RTX has the first step with RT, but with consoles sharing the same arc as PC Navi2, holly cow thats an advantage. Still waiting on an affordable 4k/high res monitor though...

This could be really good.
Hopefully it isn't just reducing the clocks 5% and factory "undervolting" the cards just to have some selling point for a card that is less of a step up in performance than Turing was over Pascal (minus the 2080ti of course).

At the very least it sounds promising for consoles.

Navi and consoles should have been out by now, but for what ever reasons they are delaying the consoles to use a more refined version of Navi.

They do indeed need to compete in the top end and at least high end market as so far they are on the low to barely mid range in terms of performance. Price wise they are at high end and Nvidia at crazy end.

Yes efficiency is big for CPUs and GPUs, the more efficient the less heat and the more performance they can pack into it. The dies are tiny and power density high at this point, sure you can make a gigantic die with 1kW but that's not economical to manufacture at all. As efficiency goes up so does performance hand in hand. It's why NV gained such a lead over AMD on GPUs after their hot and loud grill series, they made more and more efficient architectures while AMD got stuck with a hot and loud GCN for ages, was performant at first but not competitive as it got older and NV sailed past it big time.

These sort of marketing slides and claims... believe it when I have it in my hands, till then it's like asking the sky for rain. May happen, may not.

he means it should've happened in 2019, running gen 1 navi bits. they had to wait cuz of all the foot in mouth OUR CONSOLE WILL RAY TRACE! stuff.

It's because they didn't announce anything new. Everything they announced we expected from their next generation.

Pretty sure these are going to be advertised as the first 2Ghz GPU.

I guess they don't want to steal RDNA 2's thunder but they best make it retroactive. They show the 5700 doing ray tracing and then AMD ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzz.
A Pentium 4 can do Ray Tracing. Doesn't mean it should.

Good to see AMD on the gass.

I hope Nvidia in there gloating stupidly focus so much on data center that they forget about there meat and potatoes(gamers) that this allows AMD to pull some of the carpet from underneath them.

Its wishful think and AMD needs to deliver yet more and put more work in on the GPU side. A couple of slides means nothing yet till physical cards are shown off.

Is it foolish to want balance to the force one day?
