[The Register] You only LVI twice: Meltdown The Sequel strikes Intel chips – and full mitigation against data-meddling flaw will cost you 50%+ of performance

Quote:
Computer security researchers involved in the discovery of the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities affecting many modern processors have developed a related attack technique called Load Value Injection (LVI).
https://www.theregister.co.uk/2020/0..._intel_attack/

Say goodbye to the monthly Intel security flaw and welcome the weekly security flaw.

I hope WannaBeOCer can shed some light over this like he did over the CSME vulnerability thread. We are hopeless without his guidance.

So worst for Skylake and newer with sgx, but also affects any chip vulnerable to meltdown. Regardless of brand.

So if you're not using an SGX environment then no worries? I didn't pay any attention to the meltdown stuff because I wasn't running any machines with Intel. I am about to make another machine for work and it will have an Intel processor in it, but it won't have anything to do with SGX.

I can accept the fact that some people will find that humorous, plenty of stupid things make me laugh as well, but it's mind boggling to think that someone spent time creating that.

Second that.

50%+ loss in performance is just way to much.

There is no point in going with Intel unless you need AVX512.

They stated that there won't be any fixes for non SGX users so there is no need to worry about bios updates killing performance for most of us.

PS: I noticed that the website changed their nonsense article title, I guess they only needed it to be really clickbaity for the first few days.
