[ET] Nvidia Bucks the Trend During Pandemic

Nvidia Announces Company-Wide Raises, Promises No Layoffs During Pandemic

Quote:
Jensen writes:

In response to the falling economy, we announced that we are pulling in our annual review process. Immediately I received questions about whether we are also planning a layoff. NO — precisely the opposite. We are accelerating your raise to put some extra money in your hands. we can put tens of millions more dollars in the hands of our families in the coming months.

There is no layoff. The work we do in graphics, science, AI, and robotics is more vital to the future than ever.

For all of it's employees.

Quote:
The CEO of Nvidia, Jensen Huang, has announced that Nvidia won’t be laying off any of its employees or asking them to accept pay cuts as a result of the coronavirus epidemic. Far from it. The company is giving raises to all of its employees to provide additional financial security during this crisis
Quote:
Later in the letter, Jensen promised that both he and Nvidia would match charitable donations up to $2,500, for a $10,000 donation in total.

You don't want important employees getting poached and losing your edge. Good PR gesture though.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

their stock has completely recovered from the lows of 5-6 weeks ago, probably gonna cross $300 today from the goodwill, moly finalizing soon hype, and general "AI IS THE FUTURE" buys. M Moly is still working on growing while waiting on the fed to allow the merger to go thru.

Was thinking the same. Keep the valuable employees and earn some kudos from the public. Win/win.

#hype

people can QQ about their practices all they like. Their stock renders results, and will continue to do so for the rest of our lifetime.

Well first of all they have lost little due to Corona. All the dev's are working at home and the factories are still plugging away while gaming and all things net related are booming and will continue after this is over.
