[Anandtech] B550 lunching June 16th

"B550 Launch Coming Soon

One of the often talked topics, since January, is when AMD is going to launch its more mid-range B550 motherboards for the Ryzen 3000 processors. Today AMD is announcing that B550 is coming on June 16th this year, with all the main motherboard manufacturers coming out with a variety of models, up to 60 for launch. AMD is also confirming that B550 will offer PCIe 4.0 connectivity. More details to come at a later date"

I'm very much looking forward for this. There's hopefully going to be some quality mATX options available.

The title of that tread does not mention B550, so it is not obvious if the poster did not read it first.

Eh... It will be a few years before I move up to a PCIe 4 SSD. PCIe 3 16x GPUs hardly use all of that bandwidth.

I get it but better have one option more than having one less, until the price is the same btw

a beefy vrm B550 with a octacore zen 3 is a serious beasty machine without braking the wallet I think, and then it cames the gpu (wallet sound killing itself in the background)

I mean, PCIe 4.0 aside B450 is due for a replacement by now anyways. Eventually the bargain basement A320 needs a revamp too for the new 3000 & 4000 low end CPUs. Doubt anybody is going to buy an X570 mobo to pair with the 3100/3300X; and I have my doubts that many of these older B450/X470 mobos are going to get support for these new entry level parts. So then the B550 is probably a more logical choice for some situations.

MSI is releasing bios updates with new agesa for their B450 so yeah I think most of x470 will get all new cpus zen 2 and 3 support, more or less.... maybe for the b450 I'll have some doubts but more depending on the brand reputation than feature wise model itself...

At least this is what I hope being a x470 owner and I'll swap my 2600x for sure for a octacore zen3 in the future (I want to have more fun with ddr4 oc since my imc is a turd) but I don't think I'll go to a B550/X570.... I'll change motherboard just for DDR5 (2022), nothing else....
