this gaming rig has zero need for that mitigation.

looks like I might be returning this SigV2 & canceling the 2080ti block too

The latest series that Intel have spat out is a throttling mess. It's a regression in performance compared with the previous generation and not worth downgrading to.

It was the end of a long series of small incremental changes from one year to the next, and its end signaled the sharp rise in value and performance for enthusiasts.

Nope, their scores are identical because all of them are running at 4.5Ghz. There hasn't been an IPC increase since Skylake on their desktop platforms.

Intel switched their focus to power efficiency and we can see that when comparing a 4.2Ghz 9900k and 4.2Ghz 6700k. They added double the cores and use the same power as a 6700k on the same node.

I had my E6300 clocked close to 3GHz, that's a lot more than an E6700 and some people even had theirs running at 3.6.

Quite kind of you to put it that way. Except in the screenshot he provided shows that your not correct?

10900x has a higher turbo than the 7700k and still loses by a few points. Power efficiency marketing? uh huh. Yeah. If it were AMD in this case, i have a feeling your words would be way less kind.

Really strange since AMD has way better power efficiency right now.

Why is the mythical 10900x being brought up? On my 9900k @ 4.5Ghz I'm getting around ~186 and at 4.7Ghz I'm getting ~198 after running 5 runs each using latest Windows patches and microcode version D2.. Clearly they didn't use mitigations on their runs.

AMD does have better power efficiency and higher IPC right now due to the 7nm node. When comparing a 2700x and 9900K at the same clock speed the 9900K used less power.

Still have my E6300 on a modded Badaxe2 board. Q6600 is in a Abit IP35 Pro. Both are still in cases but no video cards.

Because i was talking about the post the OP showed with results in the picture:

https://www.overclock.net/forum/28424112-post2.html
You started talking about 4.2ghz or something another(nothing in the picture was @ 4.2ghz - edit 770k was only one in base, but not turbo). I didn't even realize they have patches and mitigation firmware for intels latest 10x series. Pretty sad really.

9900k? Yeah, no one on here runs a 9900k at a ryzen chip clock speed. I doubt anyone here bought a 9900k to worry about TDP/efficiency.
