Efficacy, maybe, not efficiency. AMD CPU's are matching or beating Intel CPU's with much lower power requirements.

I would be surprised because their ring bus only supports 10 cores.

Don't the HEDT 12 core+ parts use a mesh rather than a ring bus?

I'm sure there is a sense of desperation but it's still sort of impressive that AMD and Intel are going head to head considering AMD's much more advanced manufacturing process. That might change completely with the 4000 series though, I'm holding on to hope that it's worthwhile because the 3000 series wasn't much of an improvement for me.

I don't particularly care about efficiency outside of being able to properly cool the processor so if the 10th gen offers me some sort of 1440p gaming improvement compared to 4000 series then I might switch back. Maybe get a 6/12 just for gaming and fill the roll that my 3600x was supposed to fill.

People that wanted the fastest gaming CPU 9900K. People that want more cores have 3900X/3950X. I do not see the point of these CPUs unless they had the same socket as Z390. AMD will bring another architecture this year. I don't know how anyone would be excited to get the same architecture as 6700K from 2015. I was already disappointed by going from 6700K to 9900K.

At least the pricing is approaching competitive. 8k/16 thread unlocked processor for 350$ is pretty good. Looks like boost speeds top out at 5.1ghz though, not the 5.3ghz as promised.

It is actually amazing how much Intel has been able to get out of their 14nm node. If you compare this to Skylake it does almost feel like next generation products. But only if you compare 2015 products to a 2020 products.

If zen 3 is only marginally better than zen 2 then I don't think the 10 series will be relevant at all.

All the X series HEDT chips use mesh.

I went 9900K from a 3770K, massive difference, i just don't understand why people upgrade every year if i'm honest.

I like to have fun.

zero want. 9700k is probably my last intel chip for a decade. unless they pull a hat trick before then.

Add me on Steam, same name
R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.
Best R0ach Quote of all time : TLDR: Haswell might be the last legit gaming platform unless mice get their own non-USB interface on some newer architecture.
