[WordFence] 28,000 GoDaddy Hosting Accounts Compromised

It's not like people aren't busy enough these days; whether still working and/or busy hiding from others, or simply busy dying.

Quote:
This is a public service announcement (PSA) from the Wordfence team regarding a security issue which may impact some of our customers. On May 4, 2020, GoDaddy, one of the world’s largest website hosting providers, disclosed that the SSH credentials of approximately 28,000 GoDaddy hosting accounts were compromised by an unauthorized attacker.
Source.

As a side note, as Texas begins to unlock their doors BEFORE they know for sure whether that's the lesser of two evils or not AND start going maskless, one of my clients there--an entrepreneurial sort of guy--contacted me last night and asked if I could have a new site up and running by Sunday. The target market? PPE users.

I said yes of course. The guy's other sites pull in millions each year.

...and Man's gotta work.

The Cyber War ramped up years ago but that might have nothing to do with this as a lot of these companies don't understand what security means and store their passwords in an unencrypted plain text file.

Bloody casuals. Be hipsters like Sony and save them in Excel

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

But what if they went to the same security workshops that Apple sends their janitor's mother to?

I feel like everything is always compromised with GoDaddy, I really wish we would switch.

I'm also in Texas and I came back to work last week before the lift. I wouldn't really say we are going maskless here though. It may not be required by law, but most of the businesses (and people) are requiring you to have one on. I really hope things start to ramp back up before I have to shut the doors for good.
