I will openly admit to one of the RVII owners who misunderstood how the professional driver thing was going to work. I don't remember if it was misleading or if I was reading with my rose colored glasses, but I was disappointed when I realized I screwed up.

Hmm. You just know AMD released this card the day before Nvidia's conference to try and steal some thunder, but honestly for straight FP32 or FP64 work it isnt that much slower than the new GA100 card from Nvidia. The GA100 as is currently released has "only" 15.7 TFLOP FP32 and 7.8TFLOP FP64. So I guess for anyone not needing to do tensor work this is a way better card for your money. $1900 vs something that only comes in a system that starts at $200k

You can look at TFlops of their CUDA cores but the new 3rd generation Tensor Cores now accelerate FP32/FP64.

lol. The chart I was looking at from Nvidia on a different website was either copied wrong or Nvidia changed it later on. The numbers I posted were actually listed under the volta card on Nvidia's main website.

So this is the incorrect chart I had been looking at:

The card is still a great value for HPC since the Titan V is no longer available.

When it comes to content creation, that will depend on if they can benefit from RT cores/Tensor cores which I am sure most are. Siggraph is still a few months away until this card gets a response. If this card came out last year at Siggraph or along side the Radeon VII this would've been a fantastic card.
