ya, that's the problem with desktop APU's
what case can really be made for one over a CPU/dGPU combo aside from small form factor/HTPC builds or grandparent's browsing PC?
you have to buy more expensive faster RAM for the iGPU to reach GT1030/RX550 performance.
Even if say the 3400G was 6 cores and the iGPU was equivalent an RX570, why spend the same or more for it over a 3600 + 570 when the CPU/GPU in that combo can be upgraded separately in the future? It just never really makes sense as a serious desktop/gaming PC.
hbm? still not even single hbm chip paired with apu, no idea why AMD is not doing such combo. Single hbm chip, even with lower bandwith and bus size would still do the trick. mx350 have 56GB/s bandwith over 64bit bus. 4GB HBM chip of lower grade quality souldnt be so expensive now. And with some gigantic order from AMD they could ask for some fancy low price. And we would finally see more implemenations of this awesome tech.
