Interesting. I am somewhat disappointed in the pricing as I am one of those people looking to downgrade to the 4700G and likely will need an b550 (since the x570 Master has no hdmi ports). However its looking like in Canada, i'm going to just break even selling the X570/3900X and replacing with B550/4700G so I really have to wait for everything comes out before making final decision.

That "A huge selection of B550 motherboards" has gigabyte, msi, asus and asrock swapped. Absolutely awful. Definitely not buying B550 now.

There's something strange to me about these boards. Almost all except 3 ROG Strix boards and ASRock Taichi and Phantom Gaming ITX have realtek lan on them. Some boards even have both 1 and 2.5 gigabit lan. Is it really that expensive to put intel lan on there? All B550 boards from MSI and Gigabyte are realtek only.

B550 Master has better VRM and RAM pcb than X570 Master.
I doubt price is too cheap.

Heck B550 basically uses the exact same X570 Xtreme VRM.

I was looking at going down to mid-level board but those are in the 150-200USD range per its leak. In the B450 range (prior to the supply chain issues), they could be gotten for 130-170Cad.

"Oh nice, 2.5Gb ethernet all across the range, that sure would be a nice addition for the server that I-"

...

Almost all of them are Realtek, well that's a major disappointment. Was waiting for B550 to see if it was worth it for a new ESXi server, but it looks like unless I go top end, I have to grab a separate pci-e Intel card, since ESXi doesn't support Realtek NICs.

If the 2.5G situation on Z490 is any indication and translates to b550, we'll be glad it's realtek, and the tables will turn to shun intel lan.

I’m not so sure about it. No reason for AMD to do it. You can slam this CPU on cheap b450 board. To get this level of performance from Intel you need hedt board and cpu - double the cost for marginal performance gain, if there is any in some cases. From FX crap to industry leader. Amazing.

I'm not. There are way too many documented issues with ESXi and Realtek NICs, even installing it is already headache enough, because ESXi refuses to install if it can't find a supported network adapter. In this situation I'd even very much rather have Gigabit Intel or Broadcom, than 2.5G Realtek.
