[GameSpot] Google Stadia Overpromised On What It Could Do, Says Take-Two CEO

Quote:
Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says that Google Stadia overpromised on its technology, and didn't seem to expand the market like it had hoped. In a talk at the Bernstein Annual Strategic Decisions Conference, Zelnick explained why the company had supported the release of streaming, and he doesn't sound positive on the platform so far.
Quote:
"...The belief that streaming was going to be transformative was based on a view that there were loads of people who really had an interest in interactive entertainment, really wanted to pay for it, but just didn't want to have a console. I'm not sure that turned out to be the case."
lol, no surprise there.

So you mean that nobody is interested in streaming their games from some remote server? What a shock, I can't believe it! I'm about to have a heart attack, a stroke or a cup of tea (the latter sounds very enticing) over this whole affair.

over-promised?

lied. it's called lying.

Lir, the other issue is their over priced, but disposable controller.

funny to see the last gen of game streaming all go down in a blaze of glory.

What's really left? XBOX game pass? NVIDIA GRID lost most of the games people wanted to play, but sure... i'd bet there are a few thousand kids subscribed just to play RDR2.

Add me on Steam, same name
R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.

Steam is teaming up with nVidia GRID.

Sony has PlayStation Now and their gonna team up with MS for their back end.

The one and only streaming service that I will accept is one that streams from my PC to my screen as remote streaming will never be a replacement for your own console or PC, regardless of what these greedy corporatists say. It's obvious why streaming hasn't and never will take off until these ISP's (bunch of scum) actually provide proper services but instead they're going to throttle everyone even more to promote their own lacklustre and worthless services over others (monopolistic and anti-consumer as well as anti-competitive). Of course this only happens in the free western world where you are free to enjoy your fascism (Mussolini would be proud).

This nonsense is brought up regularly, as these people don't even want us to have our software on our own machines so they totally own us, and yet it goes nowhere fortunately.

The price is what really put me off. If i am going to pay Netflix prices I need Netflix depth in the library I have access to. That and I don't want to have to buy equipment for a subscription service. Everything apart from a screen and keyboard/mouse should be included imo.

Are you saying that the subscription should include a computer, and be cheaper?

I didn't know that stadia worked on chromecast. Makes more sense now, I can see the game streaming thing being used for mobile devices. Too bad that most of the people who would want to use their phone or tablet (or chromecast) to play a game just want to play candy crush or whatever the hottest browser based game is.

Gamepass isn't game streaming, it gives you games that you can download to play locally.
