[TS] AMD says Big Navi, not next-gen consoles, will be its first RDNA 2 product

https://www.techspot.com/news/85494-...ve-before.html

Quote:
Kumar said that AMD was "on track to launch our next-generation Zen 3 CPUs and RDNA 2 GPUs in late 2020."

"Big Navi is a halo product," the CFO added. "Enthusiasts love to buy the best, and we are certainly working on giving them the best."

In other words, we can expect to pay a high price for this card, probably $1,000+, but that’s to be expected if it’s able to rival the best Nvidia has to offer.

If it is noticeably better than a 2080ti and has HDMI 2.1 (and/or DP 2.0); sign me up!

Complete guess here, but I would imagine it will land squarely inbetween the 3080 and 3080ti both in cost and performance.

I just hope that their price to performance curve is better than nVidia's.

So that measn we should expect "big navi" between July and October, which ya that does probably mean late August or September timeframe.

I don't think it will be competitive with Nvidia. I don't trust AMD graphics division, they keep screwing up. But cautiously optimistic.

it will have to be. I'm curious as to how it will handle DxR.

it will have to be significantly better. Ampere is coming from Nvidia and theyre going to be significantly faster than the 20xx cards.

Same! Need both and I'd be set for a while. AV Receivers, TVs, have been announced within the last few days, then hopefully projectors wont be too far behind. Need some DP 2.0 monitors to be announced. Looking for 4K+, 43"+, 120Hz+ with full 10/12 bit HDR... for min specs. No current models can pull that off without DSC due to DP 1.2 limits.

I think rdna2 will be very competitive in console level performance and below. Except mobile.
For high end gaming I’m in the same boat. Certainly possible but not certain.
