Another valid point.

AVX-512 is just that dirty setting in the bios you need to set to -5.
But really, there no issue with it being in CPUs where its going to get used for HPC.
Whats dirty is when they put it in those two low budget CPUs, I3 and I5 then advertise the chips based on benchmarks that take advantage of AVX-512 to make it look really good.

SLI Voodoo 2 - > GeForce4 MX 420 -> GF 6600GT -> GF 6800GT -> GF 8800Ultra -> AMD 4870 -> AMD 4890 -> CF AMD 5820 -> CF AMD 6850 -> CF AMD 7970 -> SLI GF 680 -> SLI GF 780 -> CF AMD 290X -> GF 980ti -> SLI GF 980ti -> GF 1080ti -> SLI GF 1080ti -> <- RTX 2080ti (DOA/Refunded)

They aren't running deep learning training benchmarks/rendering benchmarks on those low end chips. They are using already trained AI models like Adobe Sensei which benefit from their optimized inference engine. What do you want Intel to do to compete with all these ARM SoCs? Sit still while they pass them with their AI chips?

When a model is already trained they run them on small inference accelerators. We don't see Tesla throwing in a server into each vehicle they sell. They run their AI on efficient inference hardware.

This article paints a perfect picture of a hardware agnostic API against dedicated hardware. I don't think innovation should be held back due to lazy developers.
