I recently purchased an LCD monitor only to pull it out of the box with a dead pixel. New technology is being used to camoflauge dead pixels .

"Barco's idea exploits the fact that, to the human eye, picture cells blur and overlap when a screen is viewed from a normal distance - say a few metres away. The company says algorithms can reliably determine how the eye should perceive an area containing a defective pixel and alter the brightness of the ones around it to compensate."

How does 100 gigs of optical storage space sound? Pretty nice if you ask me.

"TOKYO, Jul 08, 2005 (United Press International via COMTEX) -- Japanese electronics manufacturer Sharp Corp. says it has developed a technology to manufacture a new optical disc with 100 gigabytes of memory."

On the overclocking side of things, AMD Zone puts an Athlon 64 FX55 under a Prometia Mach II for some overclocking goodness.

"So lets take a look at our FX55. We see this is a week 16 CPU which puts it at a packaging date of April so it is a couple of months old. ADAFX55DAA5BN shows that it is an Athlon 64 FX55 model with 1MB of L2 cache. Next lets move on to what CPUID shows us so we can verify the specs."

TechConnect Magazine gives us mobile techies a look at the ASUS W2V Notebook in their latest.

"Powered with the latest Intel 915PM chipset, with a Intel mobile 770 processor (90nm) clocked at 2,13GHz, and dual channel DDRII 533MHz 1GB memory, along with an ATI X700 GPU, the W2V provides good good 3D performance and great desktop stability."
