+1 for Charlie
He also said ORNL cancelled their planned Fermi supercomputer, which was dead wrong.

Despite this, he goes on to reference the ORNL cancellation twice in his latest rant about Nvidia.

On top of this, he said GF100 was going to have 448 CUDA cores, then later he said 512. He never said 480.

Real credible guy.

I'm really diggin' those prices. If the price and performance is where it should be, we should get another tasty price war, one which we CAN afford!

So what about the benchmarks Ive seen that have 512 cores?
Depending on price/shader differences, I might just have to pick up a 470

Well, it's not unknown in the business world to maintain a 'business-as-usual' attitude until you're ready to announce a change, but yeah, that one's worth keeping an eye on.

He wrote of a 448 shader card at 225 watts, which turns out to be the 470. He also said that yields of the 512-shader chips were too low to be practical, and that it looked like the only way to produce it in any great number was to chop off two blocks of 32 shaders. It appears that enough chips with only one block removed were produced to make a 480 shader model. The question now is: how many? If they're widely available in the A3 stepping, then Charlie was wrong. If availability isn't widespread until the B1 stepping, then he was right, and nVidia just cherry-picked enough to get some out the door.

Just curious how/why anyone would say they are going to for sure get one or two for any price without seeing any real benchmarks? I mean I waste money with the best of them, but that's just plain dumb...

My guess is we'll see a 512 core GTX485 in a later refresh Or maybe even a B1 stepping 512-core GTX480

I think hell would've had to have frozen over, on a leap year, when the planets were in perfect alignment, during a total solar eclipse, for you to have decided NOT to buy a Fermi.
