It seems Guru3D didn't quite pick the best game/spot to test AA. I would have gone for somewhere with objects like telephone cables.

Seems interesting, I'll probably be getting an EVGA GTX 470, get my watercooling setup, then get a 2nd GTX 470 Shoot for a 720Mhz Core clock on each card.

Maybe do a step-up to a GTX480 if I'm dissatisfied with the GTX470.

I didn't pick the game, folk-it-all did. I also didn't pretend that Metro 2033 was the only game that existed, like you. The performance increase (or lack thereof) isn't as favorable in other games, which only resonates my points even louder.

And you still haven't touched the power/heat issues...why is that?

That is from Anandtech

Or summer temperatures for that matter.

Also my 5850 gets to ~80C at 70% fan speed in furmark.
80C in Furmark is not bad at all. Mine can get close to 100C with the fan at 70%. I think it's the way Nvidia programmed the fan control. It just does not spin fast enough till it really gets up there, and the drivers won't speed up the fan till it's hitting 90s.

Yeah I might do that. I'm not thinking about cooling it with water but I might wait for a non reference cooler. Then do the step up if I need more juice

Don't you find that worrying though? I mean I can vouch for what you're saying with the fan at 70% not spinning fast enough ( My GTX260 was pretty quite compared to my 5850 at those speeds ), but with these temps how can you even expect to OC WITH voltage adjustments if you're already near max fan settings? There just is not much OC headroom on air.

I have no doubt they would OC well on water. Then again, pretty much anything would since that's the whole point of it.

Well happy you guys waited six months for Fermi.
You learned a valuable lesson: nothing ever lives up to the hype.

Waiting for a graphics card is like waiting with having sex until marriage. Afterwards you'll realize: I could have been doing this for six months if werent so stupid.

its against the 5970 so yeah i would

No matter what you guys say, you're not going to sway or convince Celeras or Saulin of anything. They only see what they want to, they'll put the spin on it they want and thats the end of the story.

The 480 could be slower than the 5870 in every game, have an idle temp of 80c, be more expensive than a 5970 and have a 50% chance of exploding and those 2 would still find a nice way to put a positive spin on it.
