What ? Eww no, keep the bland looking BSOD, Atleast it actually told me why there was an issue. This new BSOD screen are for those PC noobs who want everything to look less scarey. MS I am dissapoint.

From what I've seen from Win8 so far, it's very enduser, so I hope you can turn all that crap off.

What do you want to bet they allow the old style, optionally? 99% of the people who see a BSOD don't care about the details, so why leave the detailed version showing by default? The smart business decision would be to enable the version most useful to the average user, and allow the other option as well, as the user's discretion.

This is going to be problematic for overclockers...I really hope there'll be a way to revert.

I've got the Win 8 ISO in my Downloads folder right now, must setup virtual machine.

Pretty sure they will, since XP I've had a tradition of turning off all the friendly stuff in Windows after a new install. You make a good point about it being a smart business decision though.

I'm only going to be able to install 8 tomorrow, guess I'll find out then tongue.gif

This. As nice as it looks, it's going to be a pain in the ass for troubleshooting. I've lost count of number of times I've had people call me up and say "My computer has a big blue screen full of words and it scares me", and I've been able to just ask them for the bugcheck code and diagnose it remotely.
Without that, it's going to slow down the entire process massively, especially when the BCCode is something like 0x7B and you can't even boot into Windows to check the event log.

Hopefully there will be a way to enable verbose error messages, but I'll wait with bated breath.

Gotta say Microsoft, I was liking what I was hearing about Windows 8 until this.
