This is right after that whole "no adblockers" thing, right?

Yeah, okay.

Or, you could just not use Chrome. In fact, they're just flat out giving us reasons not to use their browser.

Yeah, I deal with it on a regular basis, so I know what you mean. To be honest, I usually trash such emails myself. In the case I noted though, the headers were so rich with information I couldn't pass up a chance to attempt to take the originator out.

Not saying that's going to happen, mind you. But I gave it a good shot.

If Chrome cant do this then FAIL.

Google uses an external updater when Chrome isn't running(So does Vivaldi). They tie it to every startup mechanism in Windows and set it to check for updates once a day.

I have no idea if Google can do push update notifications.

Microsoft is supposedly working on a fix for Win 7 (and I trust Microsoft's "fixes" in the past 15 months as far as I can spit upwind in a Class 5 hurricane). This whole thing has a peculiar odor, akin to dead and rotten mackerel.

This news says that apparently only the 32-bit version of Windows 7 is vulnerable:

"To date, we have only observed active exploitation against Windows 7 32-bit systems," Lecigne said.

So, not as many people as thought initially are vulnerable. It does seem odd to see Google of all companies advising people to upgrade the Windows version. Here's the thing, most people who are using the 32-bit version of Windows 7 are doing it because that's the last supported version that works on their 32-bit only CPU, so their only possible upgrade is to Linux or BSD. 32-bit Windows 8.1 and 10 don't work on 32-bit only x86 CPUs (Pentium 4 prior to the 600 series, for example), because they lack certain instructions and features.

Hi,
Doubt chrome would run very well on 32 bit anyway seeing 3gb's of ram would get eaten up instantly
