If anything Im glad, they will be giving some support to older cards, assuming the RT cores, will allow my 2080ti to RT better, and adding pascal will get more dev support.

That said, I didnt upgrade from 1080ti, but a 980ti. And, I have the new Swift, so bought the best card available. I could see people that upgraded strictly for RT being mad.
There isn't a reason for a RTX owner to be mad. We've already seen the prosumer Titan V's RT performance and the Titan V is faster than the 10 series at gaming. If they wanna game between 10-30 FPS let them. Weren't they the ones saying we needed 4k 144hz with RT?

It's just a way for them to sell more RTX cards since gamers won't be able to play their games at max with their current hardware if they have an option for DxR. They should of did this at release but instead they're allowing users to enable a feature that makes even 1080p unplayable on their cards.

I think so as well. Thats what this looked like to me, get more games to support, and more people to see and then when their frames tank, get them to RTX.

PhysX is open source now and includes vendor neutral GPU accelerated libraries. Metro Exodus uses PhysX although I don't know if they used the GPU accelerated libraries.

Jesus, it's bad enough that 2xxx series owners have had to wait 6months or so for just a handful of games that have RTX support, but then Nvidia drop a curve ball and now the 10xx series can do it too. I mean.....screw that, i'd be selling em for sure.

Ok sure 2xxx series will do it far better since they have dedicated tensor cores for the job, but.....by how much is the question? Could you imagine the uproar if a 1080Ti can do a decent enough job and keep up with a card with dedicated hardware for half the cost? The poop may hit the fan soon.

You do realize video cards are almost always out before a new API right? The delay was due to Windows 1809 which is required for DxR was released Nov 13, 2018 followed by Battlefield V on Nov 14, 2018. DirectX 12 was released in 2015 and we only have around 50 games. A GTX 1080 Ti can't do a decent job since we already saw what a Titan V could do. If anything we'll get a few titles with better lighting but lack of reflections and shadows.

Can normal DXR utlize RT cores. Or are RT cores only specialized to handle RTX features.

You could run ray tracing on a stupid 386, but at what speed. Same with Pascal and other hardware without dedicated HW acceleration, they will be slow.

Sure looking forward to how fast say a 1080 will run compared to 2070 in Q2PT or other full ray trace game not just 1-2 effects enabled AAA games. Even then Metro Exodus 1080 vs 2070, can't wait for the slaughter.

Hi,
Seems simple to disable
