I wonder why they needed to make a separate driver branch for this? It seems as though this will force us to choose if we want optimized gaming performance or optimized "creative application" performance.

Maybe I am missing a key piece of information but I think a "Gaming/Creator" switch in GeForce experience would be a much better solution than having to constantly install and uninstall drivers to have it optimized for what I'm doing at the time.

Same thing AMD does with AMD One Driver except it allows you to switch without uninstalling but still requires a reboot. GPUs are used by plenty of people and now they have the support.

Edit: I mean AMD also has a separate branch but they can be switched between with a restart.

I guess that means that optimizing a gpu for gaming causes it to be less than optimal for creative applications (and vica versa). Seems like they should be able to have both things optimized in one driver but my software knowledge doesn't extend beyond installing and using it.

oh look a article that states they are going to do the same as the AMD drivers. Sadly tho you have to install Geforce Experience, NO THANKS! I dont do stuff like that so it doesnt matter anyways to me but at least they give you an option to be an gamer and content creator with the same PC if you desire to do so.

ah! i did slightly miss that part.

The first Creator Ready Driver is now available from NVIDIA.com or GeForce Experience. From GeForce Experience, you can switch between Game Ready and Creator Ready Drivers at any time by clicking the menu (three vertical dots in the top right corner).
tbh, i was going to debate GFE was needed at all, but looking back, yeah a thumbs down for switching back/forth in GFE.

i had first thought the three dots would appear in NVCP.

Tested it and it requires an uninstall and install every time when I switch. Nothing like AMD's FE drivers that just need an install once per driver and easily switched between by a reboot. Colors look very similar to my Radeon VII with the creator drivers though.

Hopefully some review site will test out the two different driver branches to see what the performance differences are. I wouldn't be all that surprised if games perform the same with both.

When testing the FE the performance difference was massive between the two branches. While nVidias release notes show they still have game ready optimizations in their creator driver. The only downside is that they aren't going to be updated with every single game ready driver.
