AMD making a splash again. We know DXR works with Vega and we also have Radeon VII, so why hasn't AMD released their own drivers? Always last to the parade.
AMD has always been slow to deliver software whether it comes to drivers or doing features that mirror Nvidia. This is to be expected.
However they have a pretty good excuse this time.
AMD has to divert any resources it has for software for navi drivers which is considerable work.
One of the big key improvements AMD can do along with reducing sample variance(to clock and volt nearer to optimum) is getting day 1 drivers mature. These two things can vastly change reviewer perception of their products.
They should avoid driver work for DXR for now as it seems very buggy, difficult to obtain reasonable for performance and seems time intensive as late introduction to software have shown.
Last I saw they were giving away three games for 2080ti purchase.
Still little to motivate me personally.
EVGA website looks to have dropped the price 100.u.s on the 2080ti ftw3 ultra same as micro center has on it so if MC is smart it will drop another 100.us off it lol dropping to 1300.us. instead of 1399.99 from the outrageous 1500.us it was originally lol
In BFV I tried it maxed out on Ultra everything in Combined Arms Arras @ 1440p and was getting a comfortable 90fps until I got within the range of puddles and it was pushing around 50-60fps, but it felt like Gsync was off to me as I was seeing screen tearing (certainly not comfortable to play with). Using an official ROG Swift Gsync Panel and an EVGA 1080Ti FTW3 Hybrid. Visually though, I couldn't even tell the difference even though I've had over 500+hrs in game. The puddles obviously show the improvement, but it's so subtle you may as well not even use RTX features even if you had a 20xx series GPU.
I updated the Original post since NVIDIA Also Releases Tech Demos for RTX: Star Wars, Atomic Heart, Justice Available for Download, I am actually excited for these demos was happy to see them on the preview of RTX but for some reason Nvidia waited till now to release them
