I have a big bang house. I had all the materials for my new house brought in and dumped on a vacant lot. I took a stick of dynamite, lit the fuse on fire and tossed it into the pile of materials. BOOM went the explosion and when the dust settled I had a new house! Amazing isn't it?

I will take path tracing dedicated card any day but there are none and no applications for it yet. Even pro software is still in infancy of adding support of the new RT hardware acceleration. Let alone games there is 1 remake that uses PT, the rest are hybrids that run like a potato anyway.

More so when does M$ actually plan to update OSes to 1809? Their infamous borked October update has still not been deployed via Win update and it has to be manually force installed. Stupid DX12, Vulkan tracing works fine on 1803. Why can't they release a DX12 update instead if they can't manage their Win updates to offer major updates on a timely fashion. Seems to me they are trying to skip 1809 straight to the next update.

Great... with Win10 they stopped offering standalone DX updates and instead one has to update the whole OS. What the hell M$.

Hi,
For the most part 1809 will be skipped from installing and instead going to 1903 after approving jumping to it yes ms brought back approval links to use to go to another build
For some odd reasoning ms can't rely on 1809 not borking personal files but somehow 1903 won't for the masses lol

Microsoft rolled out 1809 again on November 13, 2018, all 55 machines I own updated to 1809 without an issue after the re-release.

I know Chaos Group updated V-Ray to support RT cores and Redshift also.

https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2018/0...ustry-support/

You're going to be waiting another decade if you're planning on waiting for full PT games. Hybrid is the future and it's already looking awesome.

Tried it last night, RTX on low in BFV with a 1080 Ti on high settings at 1440p got me ~70 FPS, same settings with RTX on ultra gets me ~20.

Though I can't see a difference even when I'm not playing the game and am just spending time looking at puddles. I've only played the first two missions of single player though, didn't wanna try it in multiplayer.

You're doing it wrong if you're looking at puddles. Look at shiny surfaces that can reflect hidden enemies.

RTX in BFV is the biggest waste of a graphics feature ever. I'm not sure why anyone thought pretty reflections would be noticed in a multiplayer FPS.

Reflections are useful in FPS games. It makes it easier to find enemies hiding around corners when there are reflective cars/mirrors/water puddles near by.

I haven't seen 1809 install on it's own yet on a machine. Even previous updates take forever. Might be location based even though it's set to EN-US.
Maybe if one selects the beta/insider updates then it may update "on it's own". With the regular branches it doesn't.

Not that Win10 didn't bork itself royally last week anyway, corrupted boot completely after it failed some update and did a restore of some kind I think. Their automated repair tools are also useless at resolving this on their own ==> command line fixing by user... Some infamous bug in 1803.

It's really weird how some regions/machines update to new version soon and other wait 6 months and still don't get the update XD

Got the driver and tested 3d Mark Port Royal on my 1080ti. It was definitely not playable (so to speak) at around 12 fps average but that isn't my main concern.

My main concern was that while the reflections did look ray traced the shadows and other elements didn't and there was an overall fuzziness to the images. I understand that currently it's an artifact of the fact that not enough rays can be traced per pixel, but I would say except for the reflections you could have achieved similar results with traditional rendering.

Still, there's no denying it that eventually ray tracing will surpass rasterizing in all aspects but we're just not there yet.

PS: Waiting for a ray traced remake of Crysis to happen so that we can all ask 'But can it run Crysis?' again.
