[EnGadget] NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX GPUs are now even better for creative types

Source: https://www.engadget.com/2019/07/29/...bit-photoshop/

Quote:
On top of announcing 10 new RTX Studiolaptops, NVIDIA has some news that will make GeForce RTX creators happy. The latest Studio driver, due to be released shortly, will support 10-bit color for all GPUs in Adobe Photoshop CC, Premier CC and other OpenGL-powered apps. That's a pretty big deal, because up until now, you needed to buy a costly Quadro RTX card to get the most out of your fancy 10-bit HDR monitor for photo or video editing. Now, you get the same feature with GeForce RTX, too.
nVidia just keeps making these much more appealing toward content creators. AMD needs to hurry up and release their One Driver for all Radeon cards like they stated they would.

nVidia just steals AMD's ideas and executes them perfectly.

to me perfectly would mean support of previous gens.

and what about turing GTX cards? i know no one buys a 1660ti for "work" but it won't kill them to add it - same drivers/display I/O.

however, yeah i am sure a lot of freelancers are ecstatic.

I've heard that some designers are doing some work in Minecraft with path tracing and custom textures. The result is pretty photorealistic.

Can't find any confirmation that 10bit only applies to RTX cards. They added GTX Turing Studio Driver support in May. All I saw was that Geforce/Titan cards support 10bit.

Not sure i would call that photo realistic, but def has potential to look good(Minecraft) Also, the video it looks like its sub 30fps possible even closer to 20ish fps not sure how big of a deal that is for Minecraft game play

GPU i currently own: 390x/FuryX/Vega FE/RX Vega 64/RX 580 - CPUs: 5960x/R7 1700/X5650x2/E5 2863/e5 2670/R5 3600

article "only" mentions Geforce RTX. though i would submit you are correct w/studio drivers however, just going by exactly whats mentioned.

maybe its just my gripe w/nvidia never bringing any new features to previous cards. well besides DX12 to fermi.

AMD has had full 10-bit support on their GPUs for a while, longer than Nvidia. AMD cards also do not take a performance hit from HDR like Nvidia cards do.

Shill out man. The only real news here in that Nvidia stopped blocking off a feature that they can no longer get away with charging a premium for since it has become standard.

The bias here is too damn high.
