[GameRevolution] Denuvo mobile DRM brings controversial security software to phones

Quote:
The controversial digital rights management (DRM) solution, which has previously been exclusive to certain partnered PC games, is now on its way to phones and tablets via a new form of Denuvo mobile DRM.

#2 their debt is insane, even for a "diverse field" company. They cannot even afford to service the debt maintenance let alone make an actual dent in the debt itself. - Internet Stranger

probably for android apps, but meh those devs would back out once lag complaints racks up, unlike desktop games android apps have multiple "alternatives".

trolling an adult is very dangerous, don't try it at home nor at work. you don't want to play tag with a rabid man.

This is completely pointless. Almost all mobile games are F2P and they get their money from advertising and microtransaction.

Maybe it will teach them how to make "light weight" DRM. I don't think phones have as much headroom for bloat as most PC's do.

Oh but they give it the old college try, that's for sure. Next phone I'm buying will have Lineage OS already installed, or at least be confirmed for it to work on the phone. Samsung is dead to me now, which sucks cause I always loved them. But the bloat makes my phone slower than it has to be, and they won't let me uninstall it and they've locked the bootloader so I can't install a different OS. Well that's that you've lost a customer

You should dig around XDA, I'm not 100% on this but I'm fairly sure you can flash a custom rom or at least root even the latest Samsung phones. It's a lot harder than something like a Oneplus that treats you like an adult and allows you to unlock with one command but for Samsung I think there's leaked manufacture tools like Odin which allow you (after a lot of messing around and chances of bricking your phone) to flash/root. Beware though Google has it's own DRM style thing (Safety Net) and passing it is becoming a lot harder, running custom roms would likely trigger a violation. It wouldn't surprise me at all if some kind of DRM for Android uses Google Safety Net as a backend and would outright bar you from using said piece of software if any kind of custom rom/root is detected. I'm fairly sure Pokemon GO and other such games use this approach.

I see the cancer is spreading to the phones. Good, hopefully, the games and the performance get so broken, people start looking up and around and engaging with human beings without twitching every two seconds at their phones by favoring every click and clang notification coming from these stupid, zombie making, money pits and health hazard devices.

Remove bloat with adb. Unless you have snapdragon powered samsung device, you should have no issues unlocking the bootloader and flashing custom rom at the price of burning a knox efuse.
