I think that is the last GPU that was competitive from AMD.

As for DLSS, it sux! Tried it in Metro Exodus and was instantly like "this blurry crap is what all the hype was about"?
R9 290X was also very competitive. Beat both GTX Titan OG and GTX 780. GTX 780 Ti beat it by 5% but that did not last long. Fury X was on par with 980 Ti but 980 Ti could OC better. After that AMD did not compete with 1080 Ti/2080 Ti in time.

They still don't have a card that outperforms the GTX 1080 Ti.

It's not just those. For some reason we here tend to forget about everything other than the high end. The 7950 was a beast, the 290 was as well, and do we even need to talk about the 570/580?

Give it some time. 5700 XT will beat it. RDNA maturing and Pascal phasing out.

This is why I hate these benchmarks and super synthetic things

Unless you're a super power user and are running a specialized system, then this news will never ever ever affect you. Never in the history of gaming has a gamer sitting at their desk playing CS GO or Fortnite or Overwatch been killed in game because their midrange AMD graphics card lagged. Never has a game had major unpatchable issues with lag because someone used a RX 570 rather than a GTX 1060.

I mean, unless it was defective or something or you were using the cheapest of the cheap.

And what sucks is that new builders who don't yet know as much about PCs might hear this marketing stuff and think it's legit and end up spending $150 or $200 more than they need.

I'm certainly no fanboy of AMD but I used a 7870 before I got my RX 480 and last week I upgraded to a Vega 56. I buy cards that are usually a year or 2 old to save money. I've never ever had a problem with a game in real world performance. And that's what we should focus on, real world performance.

I would agree with you. But the improved latency (from AMD) has transformed me into a true tryhard sweaty. Epic stuff if you have the proper hardware:
low latency mouse/keyboard/144+Hz Monitor.
COD, CS:GO, Overwatch, Destiny 2, games are now more enjoyable. For games like Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus, Battlefield, etc not so much.

I must have missed that memo.
I wonder why because at the time i had 4 x 4890 XFX BE cards and 2 x 5870 Vapor-X From Sapphire.
I think I know why I did not realise that the 5800 series was so good.
It was the crap performance and the driver overhead that was never fixed.
AMD simply gave up on that and promised amazeballz performance on the next DX iteration.
... then the next DX iteration came up and AMD rebranded 4-5 cards because they were so good at innovating.

I wasnt refering to performance, AMD was the first to bring DX11 cards to the table took nvidia a good while to bring fermi cards and they had major issues with heat, and the above mentioned 590 literally frying out VRM's and catching on fire. nvidia did their fair share of re-branding too, remember the 9000 series was a little too much like the 8000 series? so much so people actually flashed 9800 gt bios on their 8800 gt and it worked? or the 9800 gtx being alot like the gts 250 and bios flashing working there too? Nvidia has their fair share of lies about performance too, promised the rtx series would blows minds and yet even their top of the line 1500 dollar 2080 ti cant run full ray tracing or anywhere near it. and if you wanna get nitpicky how about their lovely geforce partner program because as we all know everyone loved that. or how about gameworks that literally was shoehorned in to make amd card run like garbage or nvidia not letting AMD get source code till after the game releases to keep amd behind? people seem to love to forget nvidia is one of the most shady and dirty companies in the pc world right alongside intel. AMD is no saint either but nvidia is far worse because they got the money to throw around.
