I've had it for a week or two now, kinda confused why it says my 1080 Ti supports ray tracing though.

I guess it just sees if your driver supports it, not if your GPU has tensor cores?

Pretty much every modern card supports ray tracing. GPU-Z is checking to see if the cards have driver support for Microsoft's DxR API. My card also shows it doesn't support DirectML but AMD were testing DirectML with the Radeon VII when they were first testing AI upscaling.

Nvidia added support for DXR and Vulkan Ray Tracing to the Pascal series (GTX 1060 6 GB and up) in an April driver update (see below), so what GPU-Z is showing is not RTX as a feature, with Tensor and RT cores, but whether the card has driver support for DXR and Vulkan Ray Tracing, which Pascal, Volta and Turing non-RTX do (see slide below). Related to that, the GPU-Z screenshot that goes with the article shows the specs for a 1070 Ti.

You can, for example, play Quake II RTX on a 1080 Ti... at 720p... at a cinematic 24 fps. So yeah, it can technically run it. The 1660 Ti does a tiny bit better.
