Vega's only saving grace is that the VII is still technically their fastest gaming gpu. At $700 with a fairly recent launch AMD ghosting on it completely would kill off what little faith was restored over the years in their driver team. The fine wine marketing (regardless of truthfulness) has been a blessing for them in regards to gaining back some recognition and trust.

Image Sharpening would be great though. I play a lot of games at 3200x1800 on my 4k display so it'd be nice to have to clean those titles up a bit.

I don't think they're trying to ghost on other products. They're preoccupied with fixing Navi stuff.

Features take a long time to implement, especially when you have to verify their functionality over a huge product range.

ahem. HD 7970(Tahiti) at some period stopped getting driver optimization in games (around 2016?), R9 FURY (x) they disabled HBM overclock and at some point they wont even consider improving drivers for latest games on older generations like happened with HD 6000 series
5 years is a long time to support a product with continuous optimizations, especially in the GPU industry which is still moving very quickly. Lenovo stopped supporting my laptop with software updates 1 year after I bought it...

they dropped entirely OpenCL SPIR-V support rendering useless some development environment for Windows which simplified programming on OCL,also they dedicated most resources to only support Linux when they developed ROCm
It is unfortunate, but it's about balancing and managing their resources. If there's a feature or product that only 2% of their customers use, but takes up 35% of their development time - it's probably not worth supporting that feature anymore.

I would give you that as a valid point but the option for integer scaling has been there before the implementation of RIS for other device, and guess what they didnt listen to their customers..because they only want to sell the latest

yeah I guess but they are using almost the same architecture modifying some lines of code to include the the optimization for the older model shouldnt be a problem for them,I supose it is fine since it was relevant during a period of time but what about cards using architecture like Vega which is still present on a flagship card?, Vega 10 inheritly should get the same improvement, any way at AMD they have shown that they arent any different to nvidia

so you are telling me only {low percent}% of the envrioment of opencl development is done on windows and hence it is not worth it? I dont think the amount of developers using windows is that low, even if it was the case, the existent consumer market which use windows is big enough for AMD to get some interest on it,that without counting the percent of the market who use windows on servers. AMD will lose all that marketshare to nvidia and intel? it seem that if they didnt have enough resources to continue/start the development is because they havent done the best choices , even a single person ported ROCm and sycl to a single API, so AMD which probably has hundreds of programmers cant do the same? after 2-3years?meanwhile nvidia has CUDA and opencl on windows

At least you can port RIS to reshade and use it on any card, direct x 11 etc. Gotta love open source.

Im happy that this driver fixed the 30fps lock issue I was having with Far Cry 5 when V-Sync was enabled. I finally get the 60 frames of my monitor refresh rate. Kinda a bummer I beat the game 3 days ago.

OTOT, It also has RIS now. If only the 580 8gb was cheaper, I'd have got that instead of my 1060 6gb.

Adrenalin 19.9.2 fails to install, at all.

Anyone got Adrenalin 19.9.2 drivers installed ? I have a Windows 7 Pro rig and I'll be damned if I DDU my new 19.6.1 for updates I don't need, just to find out 19.9.2 doesn't install anyways.
Every since I built my desktop, I quickly realized how crappy China programming has become, ruining ASUS & AMD reputation.
Then have to go in again and disable ULPS, delete version number in registry so both cards are recognized and functioning in crossfire. After that rebuild my cooling setup for the cards so they stay under 65F.

Hello,

Did anyone Successfully install Adrenalin 19.9.2 ? It seems their drivers are becoming more & more of a VIRUS.
I'll be damned if I uninstall my working 19.6.1 (yes, it saves game profiles if you don't stop the service), for one I have no need and is more defective or not working at all.

Thanks in Advance,
C.R.
