[NVIDIA] Rise of the Machine Learning: How AI Helps Create Photorealistic Digital Humans

Source: https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2019/1...igital-humans/

Quote:
Roble and Digital Domain’s Digital Human Group have presented DigiDoug at multiple events, showcasing their state-of-the-art digital human technology that’s driven by an inertial motion-capture suit and a single camera capture for facial animation.

But to capture and recreate emotions and actions in real time, the Los Angeles-based studio turned to more powerful and advanced technology: machine learning and real-time rendering.

With NVIDIA RTX technology and Unreal Engine from Epic Games, Digital Domain is bringing photorealistic digital humans to life — all in real time.

I'm not sure if photogrammetry is very helpful with real-time rendering of facial expressions.

LOL... conspiracy theories are gonna get a lot more entertaining with all this deepfaking, etc.

soon we'll have a fully deep faked trump discussing every single step of getting into bed with Putin, then how they agreed to do business afterward, while spooning on the obama bed.

the implications on the most susceptible of society will be huge, believe it or not. Not too far off from when the uneducated eye won't be able to tell rendered Vs. real anymore.

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

It's the process of taking 3D photos or scans of real objects to use for 3D rendering assets, or in game assets. It's what Quixel does. There was a news thread about it a while back.

This news seems like it's just Nvidia marketing. All the article really says is some LA based company is using machine learning to improve facial animations in real time rendering. Given how prevalent AI and machine learning is in this industry, I think it's a safe assumption that all major tech companies are using AI to improve their products in many different ways.

Regardless of what brand is associated with this, this is really neat. I can't wait to see what people do with stuff like this in the absolute mad world of VRChat.

Yeah we’re going to be at a very dangerous point with this technology very shortly. But hey, anything to sell those GPUs
