I get stuttering in Zelda BOTW with these drivers that I didn't have with 19.12.3.

Very strange...

I always have stutters after updating GPU drivers, but they disappear as i play more. As if the drivers are generating some temp/cache files of different GPU loads.

Still broken in the drivers:
1. GPU fan curve is not "curve", it still adjusts in steps.
2. Fan curve settings are not applied after reboot / sleep.
3. Overlay does not inject into game without first trying to do something with it.

I installed the 20.1.1 driver package yesterday and got the 1604 error but everything seems to work as I want it to. Still get a little black screen stuff on startup.

Played a few Unity based games and noticed slightly better fps. Then on a whim tried the Witcher 3. I never considered this V64 to be a true 1440P GPU until now. With vsync off and settings on ultra except for hairworks OFF it was getting a consistent 90-95 fps! A year ago it struggled to hit 60 fps.

I judge GPU loads by watching the LED on the UPS at my feet during games. Youtube is maybe 175 watts, some DX11 Unity games are 220-330 watts. One Unity game runs great at 510-540 watts which is maybe 320 watts for the V64. With vsync off the Witcher 3 was actually touching 600 watts!

More testing needed.

The fan control does not currently work property if you change it from default curve.

I knew my card ramped up while playing games but did not monitor intently. However, I did a lot of benching and took screenshots during the new build (in sig).

I revisited the screenshots and I can attest that with the 2020 19.12.3 Driver the fan was ramping up in accordance with the stock fan curve that comes with MSI Afterburner v.4.6.2 Beta 4.

The reason the steps are created is because of temperature hysteresis. If hysteresis was set to 1C then you would see a change in fan speed every time the temp change.

It'll be the AMD shader cache rebuilding, for supported applications. Some applications rebuild their own cache when new drivers are detected.
