idk enough about it to draw that conclusion. all I know is that the linux evangelists around here rarely have an answer for my linux laptop question when I bring it up in discussions like these (moving to linux). maybe they all have me blocked, or maybe they're missing the post, idk. my brother is a few years into android devving, and still does all of his work on windows. n the dude builds his own keyboards. seems like a prime candidate for linux?

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.

Linux isn't even close to apple market share.
Linux has 98% OS marketshare as it runs on everything from cheap, 10 year old routers, to switches, to phones, TV's and IoT devices (IoT can die in a fire). Windows only has the desktop marketshare, whereas Linux rules the world but people don't think about it. Linux has near 100% server marketshare and Windows can't compete with Linux due to security and ease of use, which is why Windows has adopted Linux and might become a proprietary Linux distro in the future.

The kernel is still Linux, albeit an outdated one but that's not a problem.

While Android is owned by Google it is tied by the GPL so every bit of code must be Open Source and you are absolutely free to fork it however you want as long as you respect the GPL. It is modified for their purposes and it is completely fine because it was one of the goals of the Linux foundation. So if Android makes improvements in the touch screen, networking, credentials or any other department it can be used for all the other Linux branches.

Open Source is just that great. Advance through collaboration is far more efficient and all around better than competition.

I read your post through ThrashZone's quote since I have you blocked because I can't keep up with the cadence and emptiness of your messages. Just so you know.

What I can assure you is that it isn't because of the lack of backing:

https://www.linuxfoundation.org/membership/

Basically every major corporation is there, even Microsoft with a Platinum sponsorship as WannaBeOCer pointed out. But they don't stop there and even have entire teams writing code for it.

And just so it is clear every line of code that Google writes for their Android project goes directly into the Linux project itself. So by developing Android, Google is making Linux better.

Just how low are you going to fall before you open your eyes? I remember that you complained about people being adamant while being clearly in the wrong.

You are wrong.
Calm down man, stop grasping at straws just so you can argue with someone.

This thread:
HAHA, you are funny. Linux has no presence in the mobile and server market. Do tell what Android is, what routers and servers run on.
