Only the gullible or the totally inept will install this rubbish, and as most Linux users aren't that stupid I wonder what the point is of trying to spy on users this way.

Yeah all 5 of them that use Linux home distros.

BTW Defender ATP =/ Windows Defender.

Two very different products.

It's actually not the Company's fault here it's their rabid Government that has always forced them to do this. That is why Trojan 10 isn't sold or used in Russia or China despite Washington's promises of not interfering (dirty joke of the 21st century here).

If the US regime is ever permanently removed (won't happen in my Life time) then all this unnecessary spying would stop and all the American businesses can go back to providing a confidential service instead of constantly retrieving data for their Government.

I don't know where you get this from but Win Spy is definitely used in China. And M$py are an integral part of the military industrial complex, they were intrumental in the Echelon and Prism projects and are deeply involved with the Pentagon. They are not some poor private company that happens to have been forced by the ebil empire to do their bidding, they are the evil empire, together with Google, Apple, Amazon and others.

it's gonna take 10x as long to peal it all back as it did to put in place. no matter who's running the show.

n let us remember. different puppet, similar strings, cross, & master. "the swamp" was the common term, but now a days they like to call it the "deep state". Much more sinister! millions of like minded (but rarely well organized) employees working against the revolving door's interest.

it's not really about dem vs. republican. it's more akin to individual rights vs. corporate rights. Corporations, unlike people, are giant money sponges that can slowly bankrupt entire sections of the economy/nation. (see detroit) it's supposed to be a symbiotic relationship, not parasitic. Humans & corporations. it's sad how much money is tied up in doing absolutely nothing but making more money, with little "trickle down" benefit to pretty much anyone.

the classic christmas party where Mr. CEO is like "woot I made an extra 10,000,000 this year, AND purchased a new super tower in down town tampa(the whole thing, land and all)! thanks for the hard work, here's a $100 gift card!!!" to all 300 employees.

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.

Lol this is joke.

How is any AV gonna work on Android when 99.99% of users do not have root access? A normal user level privilege app is somehow gonna monitor other apps, lol fail.

AV on Linux is a joke as well. Nobody runs AV on Linux, except maybe those running email/file servers. If you go on any Linux forum or serious computer forum like where every guy is a comp sci grad programmer (so not this one) you get laughed at when you ask about AV on Linux.

After seeing this discussed elsewhere. The theory is, the purpose of Defender for Linux is for it to run on a Linux server, protecting the Windows machines that connect to it, not to protect the machine it's installed on.

Luckily for Linux, they can uninstall this junk (or never install it in the first place which I would strongly recommend). The rest of us on Windows will have to use 3rd party software to disable this garbage.

Also it may also be a way of installing tracking software in effect making your nice and clean Linux install into another Trojan based system.

Funny how those that escaped the tracking abilities of Windoze by choosing Linux will in effect be another operating system spied upon at Redmond. Of course the NSA and CIA will be in tow making your machine another vacuum of private data, all heading towards those indecent shysters (fully tax payer funded).

Time to NOT install any so-called Anti-viral Bloatware, onto their new Linux systems.... Because it's already very safe as is, unless the NSA releases a new update for your version of Linux .
