[Neowin] Windows 10 v2004 is here

Quote:
As it usually does around this time of the year, Microsoft has just released a new feature update to Windows 10. In line with the version numbering scheme we've been seeing, this update is known as Windows 10 version 2004, or the May 2020 Update.

While we did get a feature update in the second half of 2019, there was only a very small number of additions, and those additions were also minor in nature. It was more about refining the previous update than making significant leaps forward. Surprisingly, even though version 2004 is a more significant feature update, it's one of the smaller ones, despite having a longer period of testing with Insiders than what we've seen before.

I updated a few days ago. And it seems more responsive to me. But maybe the update just fixed my broken setup.

Been playing around with this version for some time now. Not too bad tbh. Package list did change considerably though. Telemetry package and CEIP are no longer removable and there are some weird dependencies with smart screen and windows store.

Working ok for me so far on my Maximus 12 Extreme, updated it today and nothing blew up. Old PCIE Soundblaster X-fi Fatal1ty still works, Super X-fi Amp obviously still works, haven't tried to see if my virtual joystick drivers are working or not.

Maybe next year it will again show up as an update for my old machine lol. It usually goes similar to that. Sometimes it's for the better, better update late than have to deal with pulled updates and broken system. Already the Win10 break itself once don't even remember how I fixed it but it was damn luck and searching that I did, practically, it ruined it's own boot or something along those lines, a real gem.
