[PCWorld]Microsoft begins pushing the 'new' Microsoft Edge browser to all Windows 10 PCs

Microsoft has begun rolling out the “new” Microsoft Edge to Windows 10 PCs, as part of its planned replacement strategy outlined earlier this year.

Lame news i know but i only posted this because MS is trying so hard to promote the "New Edge" browser.

I am on 1909 still but man if you use Bing for any reason its Edge spam city. Take a break MS sheesh ... i see the update is also waiting on my updates window.

i tried edge once . . .

then i got drunk and tried it again.

Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.
If you need help:
Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

When I first tried the new edge I was pissed because it foldered away all of my favorites and it was a hassle to fix. Previously edge has wrecked my favorites list many times due to clean reinstalling windows on a different pc in my house and then the favorites came from some ancient internet explorer backup or everything was just gone. I couldn't even go back to the old edge to get my favorites where they belong without a complete reinstall.

This was going to be the last straw. I started putting favorites on firefox and removing edge from my taskbar.

Then 2004 started installing itself on my pcs and I found they made a change to the new edge where you can manage your favorites and multiple pane drag them to the top folder list. That's the easiest I've seen for reorganizing my too long list of favorites.

Now the new edge doesn't seem so bad.

Looking back on what I wrote it sure seems like I have gotten used to putting up with a lot of os meddling by ms.

Ublock origin seems to block those edge ads for me. I really don't see them.
Edit: I'm just guessing that you aren't using ublock origin since your block count is on top and mine is on the bottom of the shield. Maybe you have some malware version?
Edit again: oh firefox. Maybe ms is just ad bombing firefox and not old edge.

Hi,
Easy don't use bing or go to any ms website
DuckDuckGo and firefox, Ublock origin will take care of web adware on websites.

As far as 2004 goes a lot of new adware in it just have to wait for the new reg files to kill it all and all will be fine until the next update

Edge is so crappy on our budget 4K old i7 laptop when watching youtube. It lags heavily when loading youtube and its comments. The video is smooth at least. Chrome performance on it is perfect.

Old Edge is crappy because web developers aren't developing for it. This Edge is also a chromium based browser so it should also run perfectly like Chrome.

Google also used cheap tactics to hurt Edge performance which caused them to switch to Chromium.

The new Chromium based Edge is fantastic.

Chrome add-on support and underlying performance but with fantastic integration/compatibility with legacy IE based websites.

Also doesn't chew RAM like Chrome and also unlike Chrome actually features proper enterprise management capabilities and functional deployment methods.

The irony that Microsoft's Chromium based browser is superior to Google's own.

The biggest problem with Edge is preconceived notions.
