When has that ever not been the case with API updates though?

Prior API's didn't specifically talk of support of Ray Tracing. You know...those RT games already released that are not Ultimate, for example.
Unless you are suggesting that those game are 'updated' to now support Ultimate. You know, like the many versions of DLSS...

With any launch of a new DirectX generation of hardware, software availability becomes a concern. As the hardware needs to come before the software so that developers can tailor their games’ performance, it’s just not possible to immediately launch with games ready to go.

Just updated. RTX 2080ti.

Flipped the switch on the graphic setting page

noticed it doesn't change the directX name on Dxdiag page.... but it does show WDDM 2.7

I realistically don't expect much, but have you tried gaming yet?

I'm more intrigued by that variable refresh rate setting. I thought all games supported variable refresh rate via freesync or gsync running independently of the game itself?

That's irrelevant. The purpose is for Ultimate games. None of which have been shown. Just a flash in the pan.
Oh BTW, this is nothing more then a marketing stunt with nothing to show for it. Grand standing on a cardboard soapbox.

That's how PC gaming has worked for years. If you do not like it buy a console. Did you have the same reaction when the HD 5000 series was released which only had 1 DX11 at launch similar to Battlefield V?

why are the settings for it in windows graphics settings?

gross.

people are taking this one weird.

APIs evolve, and we all know DX12 needs more work. the chance of benefit on any existing title is low, people gotta stop conflating ray tracing and dlss.

Add me on Steam, same name
R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.

Oh, cool, another thread filled with EastCoast and WannaBe absolutely irrelevant, back-and-forth, brand bias based bickering.
