With the recently proposed (and implemented?) changes regarding Chicom holdings in the US being effectively severed, I'm not surprised. Selling off these "assets" makes the most sense and holds the line of what they're looking to do, i.e. extract wealth. They'll trade it to a "US" company and walk away with a nice, one time, cash pile, turn around and basically copy that same program and republish under a different name in Asia to keep a portion of their market intact. Chicom plebs will use the new program, because party loyalty, and everyone else will think they're safer because MS is so much better (/s) than those Chicoms were.
I still don't understand what people get out of tiktok, but that's mainly beside the point. The whole of the world at our fingertips and most are content with the most banal and superficial accessible data. Caesar would weep.
