[NYDailyNews] Microsoft in talks to buy TikTok

Quote:
Microsoft is in negotiations to buy TikTok, the Wall Street Journal reported. The popular short-video app, owned by Chinese company ByteDance, has been criticized over privacy concerns.

A sale to Microsoft would theoretically work for all parties: TikTok wouldn’t get banned, ByteDance could stop dealing with blustering American politicians and Microsoft would acquire Gen Z’s favorite app.

Would never have predicted this but it actually makes sense.

It all gets stored in NSA's Utah datacentre anyway, so who cares about collection settings?

The data storage would be moving from Chinese government servers to US government servers.

Microsoft are an integral part of the military industrial complex and have been spying on their users for decades. They were a pillar of Echelon and things have only got worse since then.

i'll just leave this here:
TikTok: Trump says he will ban Chinese video app in the US

Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.

If you need help: Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

With the recently proposed (and implemented?) changes regarding Chicom holdings in the US being effectively severed, I'm not surprised. Selling off these "assets" makes the most sense and holds the line of what they're looking to do, i.e. extract wealth. They'll trade it to a "US" company and walk away with a nice, one time, cash pile, turn around and basically copy that same program and republish under a different name in Asia to keep a portion of their market intact. Chicom plebs will use the new program, because party loyalty, and everyone else will think they're safer because MS is so much better (/s) than those Chicoms were.

I still don't understand what people get out of tiktok, but that's mainly beside the point. The whole of the world at our fingertips and most are content with the most banal and superficial accessible data. Caesar would weep.

"I know enough to know I don't know enough"

"If you truly didn't care then why do you insist on carrying on as if you do?"

It's cute when someone glances at a topic title and then posts without reading anything else. I don't even have to respond to make you look like a fool. Your post does that for me. - DaLagga, steam forum
