A lot of references to BF2 in this thread.
For me, BF2 was the death knell of the Battlefield series, not it's pinnacle. Sprint gauges (especially ones that have trained soldiers falling well short of my own capabilities), inability to sidestep while running, and ranking/unlocks of any sort are anathema to me for this genre. I played a fair bit of BF2, some BF2142, quite a bit of America's Army, and way too much Planetside 2, but all pale in comparison to the sort of experiences I had before unlocks were a thing. I just can't play shooters where there is anything that even resembles a 'grind' anymore...I'm not sure how it's supposed to add value either. I put more hours into games like Tribes 2 and the original BF1942 than I've spent in all other shooters since.
Anyway, BFV stands out as unfocused and I'm not surprised it's being delayed. Never seriously considered playing it though, so I don't have any horse in this race.
...rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual. -- Thomas Jefferson
