When 4 of the 6 games in my active Origin library are BF titles.....you really have to go above and beyond to get me to cancel a BF title. As a fan since day 1 of BF1942, I have completely written off the franchise.

Finally something good news about this game. What does EA expect when they were trying to launch a shell of a game and then having all the new things they showed off at EA Play and Gamescom come post launch? I mean that is like ordering a burger and only getting the bun now and the rest of the meal piece by piece over a long period of time. I have played every single BF game since 1942, even own both Bad Companies for Xbox 360 and my Origin Library most consists of BF games but after playing the alpha twice I refuse to pre-order this. Personally anyone who has pre-ordered this has to be nuts, my two cents. The game will drop in price around Xmas time. If the reviews are good I may pick it up when it is 50% off.

That snow board looked so boring and aerial combat was very cramped on that tiny map. Literally everything I have hated in the series since BF2 was in that map.

I want to see a faithful remake of 1942, naval combat, big plane maps and all....otherwise they should not waste our time.

Yeah like a really bad song on the radio that the station keeps repeating and repeating.

For me, BF2 was the death knell of the Battlefield series, not it's pinnacle. Sprint gauges (especially ones that have trained soldiers falling well short of my own capabilities), inability to sidestep while running, and ranking/unlocks of any sort are anathema to me for this genre. I played a fair bit of BF2, some BF2142, quite a bit of America's Army, and way too much Planetside 2, but all pale in comparison to the sort of experiences I had before unlocks were a thing. I just can't play shooters where there is anything that even resembles a 'grind' anymore...I'm not sure how it's supposed to add value either. I put more hours into games like Tribes 2 and the original BF1942 than I've spent in all other shooters since.

Anyway, BFV stands out as unfocused and I'm not surprised it's being delayed. Never seriously considered playing it though, so I don't have any horse in this race.
I believe I've seen blameless post before and he's right on the mark here.

My friends and I were some of the top pilots on Battlefield 1942, and BF1942 was definitely the high mark of the series. There were just SO many things you could do in that game that were fun.
RPG plane jumping, glitching into the hangar and killing people with infinite ammo, dogfights that were not IL2 quality but which STILL took skill (something most people forget about), having 2 people ride on a jeep's hood, having people flying on a plane's wing, and so on. It was probably the most enjoyable experience in my entire gaming career. Buying Thrustmaster F22 Pros and RCS's off ebay, modding them......just plain simple fun.

And let's not forget flying at max altitude with a B17 so the bombs would be invisible when they hit the ground!

Battlefield 2 flying was a complete JOKE--the altitude ceiling was the same height as in BF1942, but the jets were MUCH faster, giving you a lot less room to work with!

Did everyone really forget this?

And lets not forget the carrier landings and naval /battleship and submarine battles!
Instead you had grounded carriers as a spawn point...

After playing both Alpha's, I'm still undecided whether I want to buy it.

I think I might just get Insurgency: Sandstorm instead. It releases Sept 18

It doesn't look as pretty, but it will probably be fun. Plus, there will be a Linux version so I won't have to dual boot to play it.

Sandstorm for me indeed, the Battlefield vehicle combat is a joke so if I'm going to be stuck with Infantry only might as well go with Insurgency.

The open beta is September 6. I will decide if this game is worth it on that date.

I would recommend more people to check out Insurgency. Learn how to play it. This game should be a lot more popular.

BF1 looks amazing graphics-wise, but I didn't like it at all.

It boggles me as to how DICE/EA didn't create Bad Company 3 when BC2 was arguably one of the best FPS games of all time.

I want:

1.) WW3 setting or Bad Company 3
2.) Best graphics (upgraded from BF1)
3.) Gore (like Wolfenstein Colossus)
4.) 128 player maps (64 vs 64) with TDM, Rush, and Squad DM especially CQC like several BF3 maps.

One of my favorite games was FEAR and the online multiplayer was just amazing - red mist everywhere, constant blasting.

The biggest retard move they made with BF1 is not having 64 player TDM and Rush - why the hell did they remove that? Conquest is slow and boring.

The title itself is console oriented, something like this simply isnt going to happen.
Actually, I did get to play a few rounds of 128 player in BF3 during the beta test. It was on Caspian Border conquest mode. I think that Dice did something on accident that allowed server owners to do this. There was a dozen or so servers that had it enabled, though it was removed shortly.

I really didn't see any FPS drops caused by it and I only had a AMD 6870 GPU at the time. The map size was also large enough where it didn't feel cluttered either. Overall, there was no noticeable negative effects so I don't understand why they never implemented it as a standard feature.

The BF series looks way too much like COD now.

It used to be much slower paced, more emphasis on tactics and teamwork, as well as combined arms with helos and tanks in the fray.

Now it is just spawn, rush in, kill a few guys, die, respawn, rush in, etc. It's just COD

Also, there is THIS:

Yeah like a really bad song on the radio that the station keeps repeating and repeating.
