[EA] An Update on Battlefield V

Quote:
Today, we’re announcing that Battlefield V will have a new launch date – November 20, 2018.

Over the summer, we’ve had tens of thousands of players get their hands on the game during our Closed Alphas and at E3 and Gamescom...

You have told us that you are seeing an increased focus on squad play come through, you are also feeling the difference in our revamped player movement and we are getting a lot of positive feedback for our improved weapons handling.

You’ve also spurred us to make some meaningful improvements to the core gameplay experience, including adjusting the gameplay tempo, improving soldier visibility and reducing player friction. You’ll see a lot of these reflected in our Open Beta that starts on September 6.
https://www.ea.com/games/battlefield...-battlefield-5

I wonder what is really going on here. So many poor choices with game direction and bad PR for a game this large. By far one of the most botched game releases I'v seen in a while.

Hopefully the game is at least fun, since this clearly isn't a WWII game like they promised.

I think the 85% lower preorders then COD and stock analysis anticipating a bomb have to do with this. I think you're going to see a massive last minute retool in advertising, and they're going to bank on hype caused by a black friday release to float their title a bit better then launching it around the time the COD game hits the shelf.

It is alleged that BFV pre-orders are very low and wouldn't do well, at all, against both COD and Red Dead Redemption which are also released during that time.
Compound that with the fact that Dice is adding features that the majority wouldn't be able to enable unless they buy a RTX Card and you have a receipt for a disastrous units sold IMO.

So, it would be a smart to move the release further down the road. Polish up on the game and try again at a later time.

When I played the closed alpha test, the game felt fun to play. It was leaps and bounds better than BF1. I really like BF5 from what I played, but there's one huge issue. This game is a giant failure at doing what it was supposed to.

The largest issue here is bad game choices. They should have completely skipped the WWII theme when they already decided they will cater to SJW culture.

Soon as you remove all the insignias and references to the German troops, it feels and looks nothing like WWII and they shouldn't of even made it. If you cannot even represent the participating factions in your game theme, just scrap it... But then they continue to ad in other silly things like robot prosthetic arms and viking war paint. Then give people red dot sights and other futuristic items because they already screwed up everything else.

To top it off, have their lead person start calling their player base uneducated because they don't like all these historical inaccuracies.

I doubt anyone is skipping this because of CoD and RDR. There have always been CoD games releasing near Battlefield and it never decimated sales like this. RDR is a completely different style game that isn't even on PC, yet most PC gamers are not buying BF5.

Low pre-orders?! Wow, some gamers can actually learn! Whomever made the decide to continue the WW theme failed hard and here is the result. Imo, the large pre-orders of BF1 was due to gamers expecting a sequel to BF4 and got something much worse. Fool me once.

Exactly what I think too.

I was really expecting Bad Company 3 or a real successor to BF4. BF4 is still such a great game with so many weapons, attachments, maps, etc. A huge upgrade to that with modern warfare (not the game) would be amazing. Instead, they went back to the tired old theme of WW2.

BF1 looks amazing graphics-wise, but I didn't like it at all.

It boggles me as to how DICE/EA didn't create Bad Company 3 when BC2 was arguably one of the best FPS games of all time.

I want:

1.) WW3 setting or Bad Company 3
2.) Best graphics (upgraded from BF1)
3.) Gore (like Wolfenstein Colossus)
4.) 128 player maps (64 vs 64) with TDM, Rush, and Squad DM especially CQC like several BF3 maps.

One of my favorite games was FEAR and the online multiplayer was just amazing - red mist everywhere, constant blasting.

The biggest retard move they made with BF1 is not having 64 player TDM and Rush - why the hell did they remove that? Conquest is slow and boring.

They cant really greatly increase graphics in a game where they literally double the player count in matches.................

The title itself is console oriented, something like this simply isnt going to happen.

The BF2142 "revival" servers should have been proof enough that people would be all over a WW3/Futuristic BF.

BF2 was the reason I built my first PC and 2142 is probably tied with the CS series as a whole as the most hours I put into a game.

But instead ... they shut it down

We should see BF4/ BC2 replacement for the next BF.
