Less than an hour until Early Access for those who bought a package with it! Then you can see lots of benches. Unfortunately, I'm working so it'll be about nine hours until I get to bench/play.

Also it is making progress in gpu performance. Compared to recent games the fps should be less at 4k with that visual quality.

The cpu limited fps for Intel seems really low though. An 8700k only able to do just over 100? That doesn't seem very realistic.

sorry, I expressed myself poorly, if not plain out wrong. I had nvidia inspector SLI bits 'profiles' in mind but what I really meant was decent mGPU support in general because I had forgotten that Shadow of the tomb raider was going to have proper DX12 AFR support. Anyway here is the answer we were looking for in an awesome reddit post:

just bought the game in discounted pre-release on gmg

Sounds like DX12 is delivering on its ability to spread rendering load evenly across threads, in this case to leverage the additional 4 threads to match the 8700K in fps. The 8700K is still 5% "smoother" at 1080p. (What would be interesting is if the GPU limit is lifted, by either going down to 720p or swapping to 2080Ti, would the two CPUs continue to maintain similar fps.)

What's strange is smoothness favoring the 2700X at 4K, where both CPUs are already heavily GPU-limited in both DX11 and DX12. Could the 6.5MB extra CPU cache of the 2700X have anything to do with this? http://www.cpu-world.com/Compare/127..._i7-8700K.html

How does this compare to Rise as far as hardware reqs?

I was able to find setting that were more than acceptable with sli 980s for Rise, but if Shadow is going to run like trash with my set up, I will wait until after I upgrade and hopefully catch a sale.

Edit to add: what the heck with all of these editions? $100 bucks for digital deluxe extras? $30 for the season pass?

Are we paying $200 to get all of the content?!

WHOAAAAH YESS !!

I bought it last friday (last day of prelaunch with 20% gmg discount) in standard version after I saw a confirmation in a reddit post that SLI and dx12 mgpu has really good support in this game and I decided to use it to further tweak and perhaps finally be able to challenge my system using the game's built-in benchmark and...ended up binge-playing this game all weekend long !!

I just keep going back from zone to zone admiring the graphics but really...THIS is the future of gaming and I have seen it. No screenshots can do it justice. Finally a game with a proper HDR implementation (instead of just constant overbright white flashes in your face), steady 90-100fps @4K (2*TitanX Pascal). My god this is the 163ppi shining at it's best everytime you see those faces up close like when Lara is under water and comes above water briefly to gasp for air. Every single time I am mesmerized as it looks so realistic. I can no longer detect any sort of separate pixels or typical imperfections. I just can't stop watching the screen...

It's been a long time since I've been so excited about a computer gaming experience but this weekend I felt it again as my first computer game ! On top of that the story and game itself is amazingly well done as well. There's only 1 big minus here and it has to be said so let me call out the elephant in the room: After that experience all weekend long I now have a really really hard time going back to any other game...

For the technical part: The benchmark gives me 89fps on Ultra settings with everything topped up including X16 aniso. This is with 2 titans X (Pascal) and [email protected] This game at these settings hammers my system with both gpu's completely flatlined at 100% usage and ramping up to 58°Celsius under full load I have never ever seen my system under such thermal load for such a long continued time =P =P

Yes dx12 mgpu is awesome in this game. Dear world take a good look because THIS is how it's done properly and here is your proof. Now if only every game would implement their graphics like that...

Except you're missing RTX shadows. .. which is only $2400 away.

Otherwise, 200% GPU usage is great to know. That's dx12 mgpu working to full potential.

aye to each their own preference but I chose 4K 163ppi HDR g-sync 90-100fps without RTX shadows over 40fps 1080p with RTX shadows =P =P

this game will serve as a golden reference standard for gaming graphics implementation for all future game releases.
