hype has died on me as the engine is now 12 years old and is barely passable
RDR has aged quite poorly on a technical level
granted GTA V I played was on last-gen hardware, I wanted to throw my controller at the TV few missions in for the horrid texture pop-ins and awful aliasing
Max Payne 3 is one of the best scaling engines I've seen for a PC port though
I'll still buy it day 1 on the One X and have a blast hunting

did anyone play GTA V on PS4/XB1 with both native and first person view? Which worked better on consoles? You can toggle it on the fly?
I'm thinking if I played first-person in the first run that will leave no reason to buy it on the eventual PC release (I sure as heck don't play online like in my teenage years)

One would actually have to be braindead to make such a statement after watching any Digital Foundry videos of RDR2 or anything of that depth.
Just because you read a wikipedia page and they don't publicly announce iterations like Frostbite doesn't mean you have any idea what you're talking about.

dear lord, can't have an opinion on the Internet without hitting a nerve.

I watched the PS4P trailers, i saw enough to say i'm not impressed as we're now on the cusp of transitioning to next-gen

i'll only bother with DF once they put out a One X vs Pro comparison

considering how much boundary they pushed with GTAIV and RDR last decade, the tech for this game is AVERAGE at best for what's likely Rockstar's first and last foray on the mid-gen hardware

the only possibility that you may have a point is because I'm comparing it to the best graphics I've seen in an open world game, FFXV on PC which brings 1080 Ti SLI to its knees, so I have really high standards.

but thanks for participating with a side of name-calling as if you're still in grade school

what's the problem?

GTA V on current-gen came out in 2014

you don't like progress?

refreshed console capable of hitting almost 4K should be the main hardware to code for on a late 2018 game...then scaled down to fit on weaker PS4 and One S systems.

My bar for photo-realism is set high, and Rockstar doesn't seem like it'll deliver with this game on that front

i'm sure it'll be a superb game, but it won't be technically advanced

I do. That's why I thoroughly enjoyed GTA V when it came to PC - it was a very beautiful game, graphically.

Considering this trailer for RDR2 is made with console graphics and it looks pretty great already, I'm sure 4K max settings on PC will be even better.

I'm not sure what kind of parallels you're trying to draw. If you're trying to make any assumptions based on what either GTA V or RDR1 looked like on PS3/Xbox360, I really don't know what to tell you.

I guess they will release a PC version with the new fleet ('nextgen') of consoles from MS and Sony, so that they can double dip alot of suckers like they did with GTA5.. We might be looking at mid 2019 to 2020 for PC release Im not gonna buy a peasant box just to play a part in their greedy scheme.

I don't think so.
RDR2 doesn't look anywhere near crippled by current gen as GTA V did by 360/PS3, we're not going to see a makeover anywhere near the likes of which GTA V saw.
Does not seem like they made this game with the next gen being where it truly shines in mind
